- A US service member was killed in action on September 16, NATO’s Resolute Support mission said;
- Security forces detained Sardar Mohammad, the Taliban’s alleged shadow district governor for the Kalakan district of Kabul province, in Kabul city;
- An explosion occurred targeted a President Ghani campaign rally in Charikar city, Parwan province. 24 people were killed and over 30 others were wounded;
- A bus with students was targeted by an IED blast in Ghazni city. A driver was killed and 5 students were wounded;
- A Taliban representative in Qatar announced that a Taliban delegation has recently met with Iranian representatives in Teheran.
