Military Situation In Central Syria: ISIS Claims Counter-Attack In Mayadin. Army Advances North Of Deir Ezzor

Support SouthFront

On October 14 evening, the ISIS-linked news agency Amaq released few statements claiming that ISIS members have counter-attacked against the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in few points, including Qalat Rahbah, in Mayadin city. However, the terrorist group was not able to provide any photos and videos confirming these claims.

Earlier on October 14, government forces established control over this strategic town in the Euphrates Valley:

“The Syrian government troops have completed the operation to destroy Daesh militants in the town of al-Mayadeen. Assault units of the Syrian army broke the fierce resistance of terrorists in the central and southern districts and completely liberated the city,” Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said. “Over the past week, the most efficient reserve forces of Daesh [ISIS] from Iraq have been moved there. Therefore, the defeat of terrorists in Mayadeen created necessary conditions for the development of the Syrian troops’ tactical success.”

Separately, the SAA further advanced against ISIS north of Deir Ezzor city aiming to fully encircle ISIS units in its northern part.

Cross the river already and cut off SDF

Jens Holm

It makes no sense at all. USSR and the invited Jihadists are doing fine and are not under Syrian command as well.

Michael Qiao

@southfront I know this is off topic but do you have to wait for your email in order to make stories?

Thegr8rambino

the area down there is increasingly becoming smaller and filling with more red i love it :))))))))

PZIVJ

The great thing is: The smaller the ISIS active front lines, the more concentrated are the airstrikes. WAHAHAHAHA :)

Thegr8rambino

Yes that is for sure great :)))

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

The SAA captured al Salyihah village and Hussainyah then Jananeh and are going west to secure that side of the bank. They went east from there Ksham and are at Tabiah I think,Jasruh fields and Conoco are apparently in ISIS hands.

Attrition47

People are suggesting that the Syrians challenge the USKurd proxies but I think it’s better to wait and do over the remaining US head-chopping, heart-eating rapers first.

Jens Holm

Very much inflation, where You are. Inflation ?

Attrition47

England: inflation is 2-3 times greater than the rigged government measure.

Justin

agree!

Rob

Syrian government is winning against terrorists and intervention of foreigners (US, NATO and Israel).

The sacrifices of SAA, NDF and anyone that fight for the Syrian nation and for their homeland will be remembered for ever. SAA and their allied army forces and anyone that fight for Syrian nation are emerging as a united great army force in the Middle East region. Their Syrian war experience will be used to bring peace, stability and national integrity in every country in the Middle East including Palestine, Syria, Iraq, and Yemen.

Jens Holm

I thought this was about ISIS.

MeMadMax

Seems that isis is running out of warm foreign bodies…

gustavo

If SAA is advancing north Mayadin, this is a great news. I hope to be true. What is more importan is to cross the river and continue moving without stop north and northeast.

Jens Holm

Its a kind of joke. USSR & the Jihadish also dont have the border, they already are at.

But its seen before using fuel and supply adding spendable soldiers as the have taken Mullah Omar years ago.

The greedy traume reached the highest level 3 days ago, when some harmfull Damaskus hooligans demanded SDF to give Mullah Omar back.

1) They dont have it and Damaskus hoo-hoo. 2) They are demanded not to take it & 3) how can they then ever have a chance to give them back to the greedy thives of Bagdad(errrh Damaskus).

Same logic madnes in thise. SAA claim SDF dont help them to take DEZ. When SDF comes as fast as they can they first are blamed theres is no ISIS resistance and when they rapidly come closer and can cut ISIS at the banks of Eufrat – they get airstriked by SAA.

No wonder those people prefare to be more themselves if friends and colleges are like that.

Justin

can’t understand what the fuck u are saying!

Jens Holm

You might be to oneyed biased. Sorry.

Justin

every time, EVERY TIME u say something, u say it wrong!

“oneyed”??

You might be too (not to) one eyed (not oneyed) biased!

If i accuse u of being a person that nobody understands, why do u then reply with a single sentence with 2 mistakes out of 7 words??

Huh?

TRANSLATE YOUR OWN LANGUAGE!!!!! WE DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE SAYING!!!!!!

Elider Barrientos

EL EJERCITO SIRIO RUSO IRANI EZBOLLA ,.TIENEN QUE CRUZAR EL RIO EN AL MAYADIN Y RÁPIDO ANTES QUE LOS BASTARDOS KURDOS IMPERIALISTAS SIONISTAS ,.DE LO CONTRARIO PERDERAN LOS CAMPOS PETROLEROS DE AL UMAR

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

That’s what many are saying , they moved swiftly they were in the area already but had to withdraw and evacuate the families still left inside. Just going back to positions they already had been fighting in. Going across to take the Umar oilfields before the Bastard Kurds, Zionists and Imperialists take them is the objective and they will have to worry about ambushes from ISIS .

Jens Holm

SAA & Friends dodnt have those troops for it at all. You cant take anything with exhausted troops spread out on many fronts having a big lack of supply.

Seemes like You prefare ISIS has those Mullah Omars. The last many months or years they have the value of zero too. The only use is being possible good strongpoints for ISIS by their many buildings, basements and iron.

Far out to take focus from eleiminating ISIS, with no problems going east to the Iraqian borders.

Above that: SAA hasnt taken Omar and DEZ already because of lousy unsystenatic octopussy plans and low priorityplans for it.

If anything its SAA is being late themselves. Dont blame SDF for that.

SAA blamed SDF for not comming. And when they came fast, they were blamed for no resistance, and when SDF cut ISIS at the Eufrat border, SDF was airstriked too.

goingbrokes

It seems SAA is moving south from Mayadeen towards Albukamal – about 50km to go. The rapid operation in Mayadeen seems to indicate a fairly comprehensive collapse of daesh, and many of the areas may be there just for the taking. If so Albukamal could follow in a matter of days, and securing the border area with iraq west of Euphrates would consolidate the entire western Deir Ezzor governorate. Interestingly the Iraqis are also only about 50km from the border and could possibly advance there simultaneously sealing the fate of daesh. What about SDF and the oil? The Kurds can play aces yet, but only because the daesh are around. Once the daesh is destroyed the Kurds will have the very uncomfortable situation of facing lean and mean SAA over stolen land. Personally I think there will be a negotiated solution, for otherwise it will be decided by the force of arms and the Kurds may end up losing everything. Yes, I said everything. That would mean they will be left with nothing at all. And in the end their negotiating position, as the losing side, will be very weak to non-existent. If it was me I would like to negotiate from a position of some strength at least.

Jens Holm

The assumptions about SDF and oil is based on pure enemy making propaganda of Damaskus and Ankara.

The real problem is that Baathistas in Damaskus before the uprisers(which were not kurds(now SDF) were used to steel from there a la carte for themselves and friends.

Even if SDF had succes with keeping it as it not belonged to the people of Syria, how on earth can they get oil from it out. So the assumtions are totally out of order.

Its exact the same around Your deep biased negosiation assumptions. Things are not as You say at all. Im not sure Russia will support Assads with as much as a single grenade to take the SDF zone.

You also assume that SDF is not aware of their situation. Im sure they do. Thats why they build a new and better infrastructure, which has a chance to uniying their zone and also have some possibilities for progress.

Comparing with, that Damskus says things just has to go back to before the uprises and here we have the winners is in many matters far out.

Thats my oppinions about it.

dan kopfz

SAA really need to get across the Eurphate and secure those oil resources. Otherwise there’s an inevitable battle with the Kurds looming.

That said, the Kurdish question might be answered in Kirkuk.

Jens Holm

Make me laugh. So kurd take the oil and send it to US by internet or what.or steal in the Mafiosa way as Baathistas do. Well, thieves often think others are like them. Dont they.

gustavo

There is not time to lose. Siria must cross Eufrates river and must advance north and northeast fast and without any stop until Omar oil fields are recovered. This can be done without any doubt if Russia aerospace gives enough protection and support. I hope this time SAA do not take a mount to think whether or not to cross the river, as it happened in Deir Ezzor.

Jens Holm

I cant see ISIS is running away even some has defected. Why hasty.

SAA hasnt more troops then they have. Their frontliners are shorter now, which is better. So taking the rest should be improved as well as ISIS has become weaker.

Hide Behind

Those oil fields are richest in all of Syria, largely unexploited, and of high quality sweet. THEY make these long tubes called pipes, they put these pipes together , point them in a straight line, call them a pipeline, and run crude through to numerous refineries and Syrian ports on Mediteranean Sea or to Turkey refineries that used to buy from All Q and ISIL. Syria has to have those fields of oil and natural gas in order to fund reconstruction. Natural gas liquidified is in huge demand in Europe as are it’s condensates. Syria needs the gas to refire it’s electrical power plants as well. Do not think Syrian military’s job will be over just because map is pretty red, PESHMERGA Are Iraq Kurds elite battle hardened units and 3000 of them, and more on way, just recently integrated into Syrian Kurd forces. US/ISRAEL AND NATO WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPLY TERRORIST GROUPS IN SYRIA FOR AS LONG AS IT TAKES TO DESTROY DAMASCUS GOVERNMENT.
