Military Situation In Central Syria On August 1, 2017 (Map Update)

Support SouthFront

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies are steadily advancing in order to lift the ISIS siege from the city of Deir Ezzor from two directions: from the southern Raqqah countryside and from Palmyra. One of they key ISIS strongholds that now prevents government forces from a further push on Deir Ezzor is Sukhna.

If the SAA and its allies take control over Sukhna, they will be able to make an attempt to take control over the road heading from Skhna to the north and to besiege the remaining ISIS-held oil and gas fields north of Palmyra.

if the US can start a campaign to get rid of assad regime forces quickly and oust him and his evil wife out of power the quickly we can move US troops into syria and secure the oil fields and install a democratic government that will ensure freedom for all syrians.

Andrew Pate

I would rather see Assad send some troops to the US and take over their oil fields and install a free democratic government in the USA. Demoracy US style is 40% of Americans vote. Democracy in Syria equals 80% vote for Assad.

Vidura

80% under the gun yeah…

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

Seems you are a terrorist supporter just spout empty headed nonsense all the time from listening to MSM propaganda ,Too bad are you unable to think logically and freely for yourself . USBOTS ROLL OUT !

Vidura

Thegr8rambino

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

Wahid Algiers

Shut up you gay for free. You started to provoke here. In real I would snap your neck without hesitating. You are one of the sons of a bitch who do not respect other countries with your fucken and wet jabbering about the US here and certainly anywhere else too.

Vidura

Get in line or get left in the dirt, don’t piss us off like your buddies did in the 70s and we will leave you alone.

Wahid Algiers

As I know guys like you were beaten in the 70th very terrible by the Vietnams.

Vidura

Body counts said otherwise.

Thegr8rambino

Vidura

Thegr8rambino

Vidura

Thegr8rambino

northerntruthseeker .

Ah yes… Israel… the evil despotic state on the Mediterranean that is on stolen land, and has no real “democracy”… It is also the place where the psychos in charge want to attack and murder its neighbors while wiping out the real people of that region, the Palestinians…

Thegr8rambino

yup

Wahid Algiers

A sad figure like you needs a big hammer in his brain.

Gary Sellars

what a ccksucker……

Barba_Papa

Even though I posted a lengthy response I smell a troll here.

Barba_Papa

Didn’t you try that in 2003 in Iraq? We all know how that worked out. ;)

People who do not know the local culture should not play games of “Games of Thrones’ with it. Americans know next to nothing about the region and the culture, and yet they continue to think that meddling in it is a good thing. Because so far every intervention that tried to install a more favorable regime neither led to more democracy, nor more favorable regimes. Iraq was basically handed lock stock and barrel to Iran’s sphere of influence, and neither Libya, Iraq nor Syria had Al Qaida, and its crazy offshoot ISIS, present on its territory before the US started its campaign.

Idiocy is not doing a stupid thing. We all do that sometimes. True idiocy is doing the same stupid thing over and over again and hoping for a better outcome.

And that’s excluding the fact that it takes the US months to ship in enough troops to do such a campaign. Why do you think it took six months EACH TIME to ship in enough troops and equipment for both Desert Storm AND Iraqi Freedom. When it comes to military invasions on the other side of the world there are no quick campaigns. Amateurs think tactics and strategy, professionals study logistics.

It also overlooks that there is a sizeable Russian military contingent in theater, which can be reinforced, which would not look kindly on a US military invasion and has the means to inflict some major damage on the invaders. And which could potentially lead to WWIII.

Vidura

America has the manpower and firepower to quickly break the back of the Russian military. It doesn’t matter what the dumb locals can conjure up with their insugencies we can be back to kick their asses over and over again!

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

Keep dreaming you seem to live in the land of fairy tales and make believe ,and are probably on of those who thought the US should send 4 man teams of snipers to takedown Osama bin Laden at the time. No one thinks because of the logistics involved and the support necessary for that operation, which at the time would have cost 100 million for all the technical and communications support with no guarantees of success. Why some should learn about capabilities and limitations of the Military operations before spouting nonsense on something they have no comprehension of.

Go back to playing Call of Duty!

northerntruthseeker .

Again… are you this simple minded to not even study? America is an empire in decline and only psychos would want to have a war against Nuclear Russia…

Russell A Wilson

You and your pals cant even beat up on a bunch of desert camel jockeys. The proof is in the pudding 16 years and counting. Afghanistan the land where empires go to die.

Barba_Papa

You still have to set up bases, ship in kit and support those 10 divisions. You cannot magically transport them into forward operating bases. Since both Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom took each 6 months leadup and prep in time for the assault force to arrive, climatize and prepare the US therefore has NOT the manpower and firepower to quickly break the back of the Russian military. Since the Russians can see this coming months in advance they can prepare to either fight or flight.

Vidura

The US has been making strides to decrease deployment times and logistics required to mount offensives. The Russian hardware still lags behind NATO and the US just like in the 80s, we have far more intelligence on their bases, air defences, troop movements etc.

Barba_Papa

Unless they’ve managed to magically create portals between bases in the CONUS and their intended forward operating bases overseas heavy tanks and equipment will still have to be shipped by sea. So still months lead in time.

Unless you mean the Stryker brigades, which are not exactly you want to take to a fight with anyone else then an insurgency. Let alone a modern conventional army. And even then they have to be uparmored with additional armor. In the field as they can’t be airlifted like that.

And if US intelligence is that good, why did the Russian deployment and intervention in Syria came out of the blue?

Wahid Algiers

You are a poor american idiot who doesn’ t know where Georgia or kentucky is even when you should live there. So shut up and learn to respect other nations you fucken war criminal and Zionists arse licker.

northerntruthseeker .

Really? I smell hasbara here and sadly either you are a piss poor one, or someone that does not have a clue as to what is really happening in Syria…

Wahid Algiers

Are you the male wife of filthy Vidura and playing his lawer. get back where you come from lousy rat.

Nukelouke

Is this suppose to be sarcastic?

northerntruthseeker .

How much are you being paid, hasbara agent? Obviously not enough to put up such gibberish….

That Guy

Bring it on !

TheSecular

If you really think that’s easy, ask Iraq. They hate us even more now. Real americans would never want that. And what your asking for is Imperialism and GLOBALIZATION. Your not an american, your a globalist.

Mauro Craizer

Those were the days, ey? When Russia & China just stood aside…Aircraft carrier here, No Fly Zone there, a lil’ bit of unilateral sanctions…nobody in US way, democracies just falling from the skies…Now Russia won’t move aside for US to continue spreading democracies…darn…

northerntruthseeker .

Honestly.. are you on crack? The evil forces that want to destroy democracy in Syria are the evil “terrorist” groups funded and run by the US itself….

The democratic government is already in Syria and it is run by Bashar al-Assad….

Aziz Hari Maulana

Hey dude, u need to understand that Syrian ppl dont needed those American hypocritical freedom nor that rotten democracy, and all what you called westren value is alien to them.

And the oil fields in syria doesnt belong to US as far i can remember. so u dont need bother to secure it unless u wanna steal it

dutchnational

Will not happen. If the US had wanted to do that, they should have done it somewhere between 2013 and early 2015. That window has been closed.

Kell

I really dont know why the hasbara trolls bother, as if they will convinve anyone here with their blazing torch of gross ignorance.

dutchnational

Sourpissed commentors present again.

One does not have to agree with everybody but stupid namecalling, mostly anti US, Israel etc, do show a lack of intelligence, normal respect and in some cases sexual frustration.

People, get a life.

Wahid Algiers

Minutes ago, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) reached the first buildings in the strategic city of Al-Sukhnah, a military source told Al-Masdar News. Blow ISIS up.
