Today, the intensity of the fighting surpassed yesterday. The offensive is extremely active, the artillery strikes non-stop, the troops are advancing towards Slavyansk on a wide front.
Another batch of prisoners will soon arrive from the front again. The losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are extremely high, which the Ukrainians themselves are well aware of. Well, we are waiting for the next tales of Arestovich about the imminent encirclement of Russian troops.

PS. Read your masters from USA they say this time the operation goes as planned and they believe it can not be stopped in Donbass. Ukraine couldn’t even take Donetsk from the DPR, how would they take it when the Russian army is there too? Mariupol is already in Russian hands, just because there are some rats in the tunnels, Russia controls all the residential areas.
Looking at the map shows that these are densely built up areas with a lot of civilian population present. At least during normal times. I’m sure that many have left. But unless they’re in the immediate vicinity of active combat. A lot of these areas still have a lot of civilians there.
So you’ve got ongoing local population migration adjacent to areas of active combat trying to survive as best they can. Presenting a constantly shifting impediment to achieving military objectives. At least for an advancing force trying to minimise collateral damage.
The other issue is stand off weapons vs infantry vs infantry conflict. In areas where only stand off weapons are being used and opposing infantries aren’t clashing yet. The civilian population densities of people remaining are likely proportionally significantly higher.
These factors complicate clearing operations significantly. Between not wanting to kill and injure non combatants or damage private and government property unnecessarily. The net result is a slow operational tempo for gaining ground through the built up areas until less densely built-up and populated areas are reached. Where there are fewer obstacles and front lines can be moved west at a faster pace.

The Russian speaking populations of Eastern and Southern Ukraine will have justice and it will not be pretty, but it will be justice for their oppressors. The meat grinder will continue until justice is served.
