come on, that was not the point of discussion. i ask why after 10 years of war in syria not single israel aircraft was shot down ??? look at ukraine or iraq or somalia. russian aircrafts lost via ukraine defence. up to 50 !! usa aircrafts and helicopters lost over iraq between 1991 – 2011 up to 25 at least. usa helicopter lost over somalia 2-3 at least. but israeli aircrafts over syia after more then 10 years of war = zero !! and that’s strange !! must have a reason. got it ?

because once they had it. they used old s-200 missiles. they fired them on israeli jet, that jet escaped, hiding behind russian il-20 so the syrian aa missiles downed valuable russian warplane and killed 8 russian soldiers. since that time, russia stripped syria of aa defence, “providing” them with modern s-400 with that exception, they can’t use it against israeli targets because russian commanders have orders from putin. it happened on september 2018
yes i agree, mistakes happen, friendly-fire etc. but a true ally wouldn t stop support because of one mistake. over ukraine russia shot down its own planes more than 8 times so far – and still they are no scrapping their whole air-defence & missiles and putting them into the dust-bin. so yes, maybe the incident added to something, but as sole reason for the neglience of not supporting syria with enough effective aa weapons i feel this explanation a bit thin.
