Iran’s Indigenous Fighter it Claimed Could Match America’s F-18: How Capable Was the Saeqeh?…… Militarywatchmagazine.
F5 light fighter is a generation 3 aircraft, when F14 and F15 were initially introduced their crews trained against F5s and did very poorly due to F5’s small size and maneuverability. F5 with improved avionics and missiles is still operational Switzerland, Taiwan, Iran …..and other countries. Iran’ indigenous copies of F5 have the latest avionics, EW and air to air missiles ( possibly reversed engineered with enhanced capability AIM 7 or/and AIM 120 A ). These aircraft Kowsar and Saeqeh seem to be capable of being Gen 4 + aircraft……and even Q313 shows some similarity to F5 plarform as well.
