have you seen the front near the pokrovsk? russians already starting to storm novohrodivka and hrodivka. if they siege or flank pokrovsk it would represent a massive defeat to the ukrainians as it is one of their major supply hubs. not to mention there are no standing fortifications past it. the front moved well over 30km through the most fortified positions the ukrainians have. and it is only speeding up now that the uaf is low on reserves.
meanwhile, the russians have nearly 100,000 soldiers still active on the kursk, belgorod and bryansk regions. they aren’t committed yet. likely they will be used to counter the ukrainians in coming weeks or months and then push into sumy. if the russians push into sumy, it threatens kieve once again while also will be part of another buffer region that forces the ukrainians to spread themselves thinner.

according to this map the battle zone expanded from around 500 square kilometers to something closer to 600. but the area is basically sealed off based on the daily videos of pow and enemy casualties. i was reading an online newspaper from kiev which was honest about losing ground in donbass because of the kursk invasion. but they also said the russian citizens are treated well, which is doubtful and that there is a steady flow of tanks sent in.
