A brief overview of the recent developments in Somalia:
- The army killed several Al-Shabaab militants including a local commander in the Lower Shabelle region, a local governor claimed. The commander was identified as Ibraahim Gargudud;
- Al-Shabab has reportedly intensified its efforts to recruit people from Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia and Sudan;
- Al-Shabaab militants have increased their activity in the area of Fahfahdun, near the border with Kenya;
- An IED exploded near a convoy belonging to forces of the African Union near the Balad.
