On March 2, Syrian government troops retook the town of Saraqib from Turkish-led forces in eastern Idlib. According to pro-government sources, the advance came amid an intense bombing campaign by the Syrian Air Force and the Russian Aerospace Forces. Syrian and Russian airstrikes were also reported in Nayrab and Sarmin.
At the same time, an intense fighting between the Syrian Army and Turkish-led forces erupted near Kafr Nubl. Al-Qaeda members backed up by the Turkish Army briefly entered the town, but then were forced to retreat after a series of clashes with Syrian troops.

Could only be something like “Idleb will be Turkey controlled area for once and forevever to keep the beheaders and Alquaida terrorists there until they might be needed once more in the next showcase of Turkeydom”. The Russian leadership realises it made a tragic mistake when it ordered a standown of it’s military operations and air defenses in Idleb. Erdoghan took immediate advantage of the ceasefire to launch a devastating drone & artillery attack on Syrian & allied forces and hardware. Their mistake must be corrected and Erdoghan’s despicable deception must be punished. The Russian Federation has stepped up it’s assistance to SAA & allies and recently sent its top recon aircraft to Idlib. The Bear has been provoked and the gloves are off.

They didn’t just stand down, they declined to inform their “partners” that a window of vulnerability would now be open. Syrian officers and units were suddenly ambushed from above without warning, while believing themselves safe because of Russia’s control of the airspace. I mean, who does something like that, and why?
Impressive counterstroke by the SAA with clear support from allies including Hezbollah fighting shoulder to shoulder with SAA on the ground and Russia in the air. The issue as pointed out by DV28L is if there is sufficient capability to take territory without weakening other parts of the front such that gains in one area result in losses elsewhere. I expressed this concern before that SAA has not got Defense in depth or sufficient highly capable military forces to prevent Turkish intervention turning the tide in the long run.
I recommend Israeli News Live (by the way, the site is very critical of Israeli policies), they live streamed March 1, Turkey shoots down two Syrian jets. It states that Iran has threatened Turkey with ballistic missile strikes that may be launched without notice if Turkey does not back down. There is also reports of uprisings in the vicinity of Damascus which is linked to Israeli incitement – if anyone has info on this let us know.
I have also learned that NATO is providing intel on Syrian military positions and movements to Turkey. Also, US has moved a carrier strike group into Eastern Mediterranean. Erdogan and Assad are definitely escalating the situation and the players are positioning themselves, setting the stage for rapid escalation drawing in many into a wide regional war that could blow up into WW3. This is the closest we have come to the brink so let us see if cooler heads prevail, or, if the intent is to start WW3, this is perhaps their best opportunity yet…

I don’t think sending a missile into Turkey is wise. Article 5 can then be invoked and NATO has every right to protect Turkey and to bomb Iran. Turkey deserves it, but not wise.
Washington has already had its golden excuse to bomb Iran, and they chickened out. The Iranians hit the biggest US air base in Iraq and (at least) injured scores of Americans. And the USA didn’t lift a finger to strike back.
Because they knew that if they did, all their other bases would be blown away – with real warheads.
The problem with your statement is that any Iranian attack within Turkey that was not retaliatory in international law would be a wet dream for the Israelis. This is because the US and NATO would have an excuse to declare war on Iran.
I have reviewed multiple sources and I want to qualify reports that Saraqib has been retaken by SAA. I would say that most of Saraqib have been taken but the city is still contested. For example, Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has reported the fall of Saraqib to the SAA but also reported that the SAA continues to bombard parts of Saraqib to prevent renewed push by Turkish backed forces to reverse the situation.
The status of Saraqib should become clearer in the next 24 hours.
Saraqib main city is liberated but there are villages around the city or small towns that are still under jihadi controll. Also, SAA hasn’t fully secured it yet which takes a couple of hours. Hopefully, by the end of this day, they will have secured it.

Probably not but Russia does, they are 2K22 Tunguska / SA-19 Grison Mobile Anti-Air Systems, not as the Pantsirs, Pantsir is mobile too, but has to be on hydraulic legs etc., this ones are driving and shooting. They go cheap Russia can sell few to Damascus.

Saraqeb and Kafar Nabl are two key cities on the M5. If Jihadists fail to recover these cities , Turkish President Erdogan will go empty-handed to thursday negotiate with President Putin. We should expect bloody fighting in next 3-4 days.

The video “The night advance on Saraqib” says it all. The SAA (and Russians) are not going to let their previously won territories go back to the terrorists. The highways WILL be opened! You can hear and feel and see the determination in the video. Congratulations to the Syrian Arab Army, the RAF and the SAF in their retaking of Saraqib. If they can keep this up more successes will surely follow. The Russians MUST commit to success also.
