That being said, the Russians report taking obscure villages at the slow paces for months in the east but eventually it adds up to a lot of territory, it looks like the Ukranian forces are following the Russian strategy in the Kherson region. I’ve been hoping the Russians would prove me wrong but every day the Ukrainians take a few more “Obscure” villages and every day, the Russians move backwards….

I agree with you because the Ukrainians were Soviets too, so they’re following the Russian strategy: little by little. Russia should have brought in foreign mercenaries or used more troops or heavier weapons, in order not to retreat in Kherson. Also, I’ve noticed from Ukr sites (and from the results on the ground that verified their claims) that Ukr informants have been gathering and passing on important intelligence, some since 2014 in the LPR-held areas.

To be fair, these movements cannot be counted. 2 months ago similar gains were achieved by Ukraine only to be lost in the following days by an Inferior umber of Russians with artillery support. The fact is these offensives by Kiev result in heavy casualties that are not sustainable. The truth in the manner is Kiev isn’t playing the “I want to win card”, they are playing the “I wanna make a statement card”. The Ukrainians could have dug in and built up a layered defense around the area that even the Russians would have difficulty breaching for years if they wanted to wisely utilize their resources. Instead they choose the foolish and costly assaults that results in minimal gains and heavy losses of manpower and equipment.

It’s not Russian territory yet, nor is it the primary area of operations every Pro-Ukraine fighter on the Kherson front is one less on the Donetsk front where the Russians are actually doing things. Sure the Ukrainian leadership gets the claim small victories in Kherson but they know as well as we do that their fighters know as well as they do that small victories in Kherson are meaningless, the Russians on that front have been passive for over a month at this point, it’s the Ukrainian leadership fixing it’s forces for the Russians, effectively for free, I can only imagine the Russisn leadership laughing.
In short: PR victories, nothing more.

The situation in southern Ukraine is that 30 Russian battalions are completely cut off and encircled with no reinforcements and no supply lines.
