Whatever happens with giving up, or taking territory? What has become clear is for a complete victory Ukraine has to evict Russia completely and physically.
Can they do it? If not its time to cut a deal.

The danger of retreating from Kherson is the fact that they can’t use the Antonovsky bridge anymore. They will have to use river crossing and pontoon bridges and pontoon ferries which cannot carry many equipment. The Ukrainians will zero in with their artillery. Either the Russians will abandon their heavy equipment or many many will perish trying to retreat. It is a bad outcome in any case.
