This map provides a general look at the military situation in Syria and Iraq on December 20, 2017:
- Mass riots against the Kurdistan Regional Government are taking place in northern Iraq.
- The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) is developing momentum against Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda) in southern Idlib.
- The SAA has advanced on positiosn of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) near the village of Maghar al-Mir and now is working to take control of it.
- Iranian-backed forces are strengthening their positions in the cities of al-Bukamal and al-Qaim in the Syrian-Iraqi border area.
The anti Kurdistan Regional Government riots , should be looked at more closely by the press . Certainly a good time for the Iraqi forces to totally secure Faysh Kabir , on the Syrian , Iraqi border .
