- Five Kurdish militants were killed in northern Syria, according to the Turkish Ministry of Defense;
- On August 4, unknown assailants targeted an SAA checkpoint in Abukamal. An SAA serviceman was killed;
- ISIS confirmed the death of its leader, Abu Hussein al-Husseini al-Qurashi, and named Abu Hafs al-Hashimi al-Qurashi a new leader. ISIS said its leader had been killed in “direct clashes” with the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham group in Idlib province.
