sdf is 35000 kurds with half of that foreign terrorist fighters. not even syrian kurds. 65000 is arabs who were forced to join pkk, because the militia makes one year compulsory military service for all. pkk/sdf get money by stealing syrian oil needed to rebuild the country.

sdf is much more than just kurds (kurds are not “syrian” or otherwise, they are their own ethnicity or nation, mind you): besides ypg-ypj, many arab and other ethnicities’ militias do exist and fight against fascism. sdf is a beacon of hope in today’s reactionary and cowardly world.
sdf is an organization with local and foreign kurds occupying arab areas of syria. arabs are in sdf under compulsory 1 yearmilitary service requirement. there are about zero arabs in all syria willing to be any future pkk state.

“rojava” (nsf, daanes) is much older than the us decision to back them against isis. “rojava” (understood as apoism or democratic confederalism, i.e. updated communism) is even much older than rojava itself, and also much larger (and growingly so, especially now that the ghost of reactionary resistance has ecclipsed and it’s only them vs the turco-fascists).

i just watched yesterday an ypg video showing how they still control tishrin (west of the euphrates) and describing how they fought the fascists (and won) in those very streets.
the fight is going on. this is just a tickle. turkish tanks and airplanes are prepared to enter streets of ayn al arab any moment now. if pkk does not iike to disarm, ayn al arab will be the same as afrin.
kurdish terrorist fighters can choose to be part of syria by giving up arms and giving all of syria to syrians, or they can fertilize syrian soil with their remains.
us and germany both friends of sdf tell them to disarm and back off. turkey is putting pressure on sdf to disarm.
personally i hope they will fight. then the good syrian kurds will stay and pkk will die, or leave.
