A brief overview of the recent developments in Syria:
- On January 17, Russia reported that Idlib militants violated the ceasefire regime in Greater Idlib 15 times: 6 – in Idlib province, 5 – in Latakia province, 2 – in Hama province, 2 – in Aleppo province;
- On January 17, US-led coalition and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) carried out a security operation in the Busayrah area;
- On January 17, the Ansar Abi Bakr group claimed responsibility for targeting the Turkish forces in Batbu village in which 3 Turkish Army personnel injured;
- On January 17, one person was killed and 5 others were wounded by an IED explosion in the city of Azaz;
- On January 17, the Turkish Army established a large watchtower on the outskirts of the M4 highway near the city of Ain Issa.
And half of Syria’s problem has just been solved, so the next problem to tackle is Turkey, then resolution 2254, and then the US last, and all in that order. Terrorists and opposition forces aren’t even worth a mention because they’re practically irrelevant. Great job Russia, it’s a little later than really needed but as the old saying goes, “better late then never”.
