A brief overview of the recent developments in Syria:
- The Syrian Army repelled a militant attack on its positions in southern Idlib and retook the villages of Delim, Barsah and Samkeh;
- US forces evacuated its military facility in Khrab al-Jir;
- Four Turkish service members were killed in car bomb explosions in al-Arbaeen and Umm Ushbah;
- An intense fighting between the Syrian Army and Turkish-backed militants erupted near al-Munakh;
- The Syrian Army shot down a militant unmanned aerial vehicle near Asilah.
Why is there never any news of Syria-Jordan relations? Is that border open and normal?
The border crossings have been open for quite some time. Truck traffic has resumed and Jordanians have been driving up to Damascus to shop. Jordan is still home for Syrian refugees that don’t have homes nor jobs available if they returned. I don’t know if Jordanian companies have reopened their industrial zones on both sides of the border. The facilities they had inside Syria were looted by rebel and government forces so were seeking compensation from Damascus for their losses.
