What you say is true, but how devoted is this army to Assad. One event could alter this war. Assad’s forces are now in open country, not within the confines of a city, where they would be difficult to dislodge. It’s just a matter of time before Turkey seriously enters the war, and would easily surround and destroy Assad’s forces. Turkey has the 2nd largest army in NATO, the largest army in the middle east, and the best equipped and trained army in the middle east. How long will the world put up with Assad.. His death is just a matter of time. What then with Assad’s army? How long will Russia be engaged? Russia already has what it wants from Syria. A Mediterranean sea base and an air base. Is Russia really concerned who rules Syria as long as they maintain status quo. Many things can alter Assad and his government.

Will China and Russia let Assad fall off? The answer is no, because they want to avoid the domino effect initiated by the West to the M.E. and which has partially failed. And most of all, because China and Russia could be the next on the list!
