On February 4, the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) and the Free Syrian Army (FSA) entered the villages of Haj Bilal and Shaykh Khurus. YPG/YPJ forces repelled Turkish-led attacks on the villages of Blikah and Shakwarzi where they reportedly destroyed a bulldozer of Turkey-led forces.
Reports also appeared that Faylaq al-Sham, the Free Idlib Army and the Nour al-Din al-Zenki Movement had sent their fighters to participate in Ankara’s Operation Olive Branch in Afrin. If this is confirmed, soon the YPG/YPJ will face an additional pressure on the ground.
On February 5, clashes continued across the Afrin area with the TAF and the FSA aiming to expand their control over the Syrian-Turkish border. The tactical goal is to link up the FSA-held cvillages north and northwest of Afrin.
On the same day, the Turkish General Staff said that about 950 ‘terrorists’ including mysterious members of ‘Daesh’ [ISIS] had been neutralized in the Afrin area since the start of Operation Olive Branch. The provided number is clearly overestimated as no local sources confirm such casualties of the YPG/YPJ.

Wish they would communicate what type of tank are destroyed, as most of Turkish armor dates to late 1990’s and mid 2,,000s. Their leopard II tanks no more than electrical refurbishing of Older 80’s Leopard I. WHILE Turkey has quite a number of tanks they are outdated clunkers only suitable against poorly armed civilians, not even safe against RPG. It’s officer commanders are political appointees or bribery gained appointees with no more experience than PLAYING NATO WAR GAMES, and children’s computer games as well. WHILE Turkish small arms are quality wise as good as any combat weaponry in world, some even superior to most NATO nations. Here is odd fact backed up by NATO and US studies, Ground troops lacking real combat experience can’t shoot and aim worth diddly squat. Especially when acting as assault forces, no matter how gung hi they act. Turkish Spec Forces lack any combat experiences since they roamed around killing Iraq civilians prior to last invasion of IRAQ. If US continues to supply allies with latest anti armor and air missels, and Toyota Nissan and Chevrolet can produce enough pick ups, Turks may well take many an ass kicking in coming months
