The only thing I can think of is that Russia is not going to use that island anymore for a landing base to attack Odessa.
I don’t think it has anything to do with “strategic advantage”, it is simply that the islands are indefensible. Too small to hide, in easy range of everything the AFU have. Now Ukraine either occupies the island, and suffers as Russia did, or it is left empty. A pragmatic decision. If the island is needed in the future, it can quite easily be taken, at a cost of lives. Not a victory, but a sensible decision.

Ukrainian losses are not important. Ukraine is just a pawn a nation of cannonfodder for the real enemy. And that real enemy has lost zero soldiers and zero material besides some mercenarys who would have not been there if they havent been expendable.
Ukraine can be looked as one of two things.
1. Soldiers who were supposed to fight on the russian sight but their leaders bribed to fight russians instead which means they are russian losses.
2. A third party bribed by the west to be used as cannonfudder against russia. Then these are no russian losses but no western losses as well. Just some white warrior slaves of the western elite to be sacrifised at their will.
I don’t know if you just haven’t noticed, but there are only a few russians fighting in ukraine. The russian army as such, stands and waits!

The Russians do not make it easy for a symphatizer! For weeks this tiny island is propagandistically inflated and finally simply left! Of course, the Ukrainians now declare this as a victory. A nation like Russia should be able and willing to finish this operation faster and more successfully. Either you do something right and with all your might, or you don’t. No one can sell this skirmish there in the Donbass, where microscopic gains in terrain are offset by a multitude of victims among the Donbass population (due to Ukrainian shelling), as a grandiose success. Everybody is aware that reconnaissance planes of the USA collect data and that these data are used for attacks on Russians. Why do these things still fly and are not fought?
