All this can be very misleading: Russia is at serious risk in its slow advance in Donbass while in the West Ukraine is rapidly rearming. So the “Donbass cauldron” could be a Stalingrad against Russia. And since Russia cannot massively bomb Ukrainian military and infrastructure in western and central Ukraine (because the sky is closed for its big planes), it is caught in a potentially deadly trap. So, to save himself and the republics, he would have only one way out, to load his precision missiles with a material very different from the current one.
