Odessa? Russia lacks even the political will to stop Donetsk from being shelled. Taking Odessa would require more troops and Putin refuses to call up more troops.
Too True! Was on day one and it is today. Needs more men and refuses. Russia has not been able to stop the shelling, there is video out today boasting of Russian scouts having silenced mortars shelling the DPR cities. Mortars for gods sake with a range of 10 to 12 km max! The UAF is still that close to the DPR after 90 days.
The don’t have the resources for a multi-front war. They need to defeat the Ukrainians in the east, afterwards they’ll either redirect their forces to Odessa or Kharkiv. Needless to say, Odessa is in their cross hairs.
Western Ukraine borders NATO countries Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania. It’s not like NATO needs Odessa to march into the Ukraine. Odessa’s only use is as a port to export Ukrainian goods to the world. Without it it would become a lot harder to ship its foodstuffs and mineral exports via rail to ports in the EU. But if Russia ever wants to take Odessa it must inflict a crushing defeat on the UFA in the Donbass first.
Odessa can be captured in 5 minutes if it’s necessary but it would probably kill thousands of civilians like it has happened in Грозный or Сарајево. At least 50 % of Odessa population is either Russian or pro Russian and probably another 10-15 % with common sense regardless of political preference. Odessa doesn’t stand any better chance than Mariupol if not worse as it has Pro Russian Republic and 1500 marines on its back armed to their teeth and almost endless amout of ammunition. I’m sure their positions are in better fortifications than Ukrainian army built so far. RF already took the spit and Snake rock and the fleet has shown it’s might targeting some “facilities” in and around Odessa in last few weeks more often than initially by ballistic sea to land missiles and other flying objects. It might take a reasonable Ukrainian Army commander to either withdraw his troops out of the city towards Dnipro or Kiev before the Red alliance attack for real. The others options afterwards could only be an evacuation organised by the Clown in Chief and his intelligence officers.
Odessa has been a Russian city since Catherine the Great liberated it from the Turkish hordes in 1794 or so. It will be liberated form the angloZionaZi empire of shit also.

Ukrainian artillery destroys four multiple launch rocket systems in Severdonetsk. It means that Ukrainian forces also destroyed the radio jammers. It might be a little too late preventing Severdonetsk from being captured by the Putin cockroaches but Ukrainian artillery is locked and loaded to keep them away from Lysychansk. That’ll work.

Ukranian-occuppied troops are ‘holding out’ in the industrial zone, or, more accurately, in the massive cold war era nuclear fall out bunkers. Putin told troops to surround, not attack it. It is a rerun of Mariopol. Ukraine refuses to allow its best troops to withdraw, convinced that America will come to its rescue with yet more weapons, their troops get cut off, Russia does not waste lives attacking a near-impregnable fortress, just surround them and waits for the food, medicine and ammunition to run out. Less exciting, much more sensible.
