Yeah, because that’s where the most massive grouping of the AFU are at, which is the primary reason the operation was launched to begin with. The AFU massed an absurd amount of troops on the Republic’s borders suddenly a few months ago, which was the single most important factor that led to intervention. The primary goal of the operation is to destroy that grouping. As you can see by the map, they are trying to encircle it.
Ukrotards very quiet today! There are small but important advances everywhere, this is very promising and the attrition and psychological effect is taking hold on the ukrops and nazi extremists. Reporting of 13 new battalions and very heavy / high tech weapons spread all over the front as reinforcement. The western izyum flank is still a worry but for now its holding and west / south and north west of it they are pushing and shelling heavy, maybe to envelop barvenkove from 2 sides and also deter Ukrops from any real heavy counterattacks at the rear and side flanks. Russian military has adapted and learnt its lessons, expand and protect flanks and no long supply lines like Mykolaiv, Chernihiv, Sumy and north of Kharkiv disaster. Kiev attack was the only one done good, but they were done in by a combination of the sheer number of ukro troops (and best quality as well) defending the capital while the main force was in the east, and those whiny conscripts didn’t help. As well as the disastrous resupply issues from Belarus. Still, the constraining effect was reached – whether truly intentionally or not, and the landbridge to Crimea was effected, now it just has to be secured more and more.
Still, lots of work to do and its still slow with a resisting enemy. There are losses on both sides and some fronts are very difficult to navigate and advance without losses, like the Orikhiv – Hulay Pole – Velkya Novoselka – Ugledar line, Marinka / Novomikhailovka / Kurakhovo area, and Avdiivka / Gorlovka fronts. Reinforcements are rumored to arrive but so far the muscle and best firepower is concentrated in the north at the izyum and severodonetsk theatres. It should pay off, the Donbas is the key and that area is in turn the key to the Donbas.
