Russia’s Shrinking War.
The goals of Russia’s invasion keep getting smaller. Its forces are inflicting losses on the Ukrainian military at a cost to Russia’s own supply of troops and equipment, and they are failing to make major advances.
After failing to topple Ukraine’s government in Kyiv, Russia redeployed troops for a far less ambitious goal: seize the rest of the Donbas.
But a month into the battle for the East, Russia has made only gradual progress along the Eastern front.
Russia has little time to make significant advances or it may be forced into more defensive positions, and the war could become a stalemate. With troops and equipment dwindling, the battle for the Donbas is likely to be the last major offensive of the war.
I disagree. I would argue that the war will become more advantageous, not less, for the russian military the longer it goes on. Ukrainian forces are undertrained, pinned down under constant fire, and their supply chains are either destroyed or under threat of being destroyed, as they are slowly encircled. Russian soldiers on the other hand, are able to be refreshed every two weeks, their supply chains have only improved, and they are under no threat of airstrikes or encirclement. I think that after donbass, you’re going to see a rapid breakdown of Ukrainian forces east of the dnieper river.
‘Only gradual progress’ just the entire donbas front collapsing and ‘only’ 1/4 of 600k sqm country in our hands already. ‘Only’ that 😂

Russia has 25% of Ukraine in its hands already. That’s never coming back. I worked it out its basically 22-23% to be precise and getting closer to 1/4. Regardless if parts of it were already taken, it’s still gone forever and the losses are only increasing.

There are no shrinking goals or ‘3 day planned coup and takeover of Kiev by Putin’ this was always a long term operation and that is only propaganda …. the ‘land lost’ was only a temporary feint / fixing effort designed to cut off poltava and other routes to Donbas until Izyum, Mariupol and Crimea landbdrige were secured. It’s so obvious, long supply lines that any general knows wouldn’t have held forever …. they deeply penetrated to get to the routes near Makariv, brovary, pavlohrad. Cities were only surrounded, never attacked. Same with Mykolaiv to secure Kherson and buffer it accross the river. Now look at Izyum and Mariupol … attacked as soon as they were reached.
They knew they wouldn’t hold on forever spread out like that with their best troops being in the Donbas and outnumbered at least 3:1 near kiev kharkiv and mykolaiv …. if they held on and achieved something, they would have taken it but ultimately what mattered was the constraining effort.
There was no rout or panicked retreat, an organized withdrawal on orders from high command unlike your ilovaisk and debaltsevo ‘organized retreat corridors’ meatgrinder massacres LOL
