I read that Russia will withdraw from Kherson. I hope it’s just propaganda, it’s reasonable to back off to avoid casualties. But Russia has been on the defensive for some time, you can’t win on the defensive! Winter is coming, with the ground raging I hope every effort is made and Odesa is liberated! It’s not that they can’t supply them, it’s that it’s very difficult because the supply lines are under fire. Western military analysts have been saying for months that Ukraine/NATO’s plan in Kherson wasn’t to storm it and get involved in bloody street fights with high casualties, but to make Russians leave Kherson voluntarily because it’d be more trouble to keep it than to leave it, just like Snake Island. Indeed, with all the Dnieper bridges blown up in August and the airport destroyed in Crimea, it was a matter of time for a General to decided the pros and cons of withdrawal from the western bank of the river.
BUT it’s a huge strategic loss because by controling the river mouth, they could stop Ukraine from using the river for trade etc. On the other hand, they had already decided to give up Odessa’s naval blockade and let Ukraine use its ports for trade, so maybe they think that by allowing Ukraine to have such victories, they’ll be willing to negotiate. Let’s not forget that not a Russian General exists who doesn’t know that Russia can’t win this war against NATO.

Putin should have won the war on the first day by bombing every government building in Kiev, targeting the elite who own the Uke government, shut down all water, electricity, and transportation, without any Russian casualties.
