A brief overview of the recent developments in Yemen:
The ‘Ceasefire Violations in al Hudaydah’ should just be a permanent label. It’s either Saudi-backed forces, or Saudi-backed forces claiming it’s the Houthis’ fault.
Saudi-damaged Port of Hudaydah remains open and almost always has a tanker and three or four cargo ships unloading. The Saudis are still enforcing a partial embargo and all ships headed for Hudaydah still need to be inspected and get UAE permission in Djibouti first. The imports (whether aid or commercial) are still far, far below what Yemenis need to survive. 80% depend on food aid today. That’s by design – the US/Saudi Plan is to have 100% of Yemenis totally dependent on them for food, medicine and water. It’s way easier to eliminate undesired population (Houthis) and have total control of the rest. Hey – it’s ‘Humanitarian Aid’. What could be wrong with that?
