The situation in western Yemen is remaining relatively stable despite attempts by the Saudi-UAE-led coalition’s continued attempts to create preconditions for an advance to capture the city of al-Hudaydah.
Recently, the coalition has deployed a large number of troops (at least a few thousands) south of the port city. The coalition is aiming to isolate the city of al-Hudaydah and thus limite the Houthis’ capabilities to defend their key logistical hub. Yemeni forces have responded to these efforts by launching a series of counter-attacks on coalition positions south and southwest of the city.
Clashes are ongoing.

First thing, the map is wrong. SF reported Oct. 25 that Houthis launched successfull attacks well south of Hodeidah and took position cutting major road. The map shows farthest extent of Coalition advance into the Houthis trap in June. The green should be purple along west coast down to Zabid.
Oct. 26 SF report 10 brigades deployed by Coalition- at least 30,000 troops – sources Arab gulf media. On Oct. 30 SF report 10,000 troops reinforcing to make force at least 40,000 or equivalent of an army Corp of three full strength divisions or 12 brigades – on a frontage too narrow for the original coalition force half the size, all sources Arab gulf media. Yesterday SF report reinforcement again, of urban combat units – guess they managed to squeeze in to a force that is possibly 50,000 strong. Arab gulf media again source.
Now SF report at least a few thousand deployed as Houthis launch effective counterattack’s and Coalition trying to set up preconditions to attack Hodeidah – to isolate the port and limit Houthis ability to defend – apparently the Coalition has found a unique way of doing this, though losing a series of defensive actions and being pushed back in western corridor.
This is BS. As was the case with Arab gulf media covering the Coalition June offensive, which successfully failed, the recent crap out of Arab media is contradicting earlier crap – it is all crap. A proper analysis is needed to give an honest picture of the true situation in Yemen.
