The situation in western Yemen is remaining relatively stable despite attempts by the Saudi-UAE-led coalition’s continued attempts to create preconditions for an advance to capture the city of al-Hudaydah.
Recently, the coalition has deployed a large number of troops (at least a few thousands) south of the port city. The coalition is aiming to isolate the city of al-Hudaydah and thus limite the Houthis’ capabilities to defend their key logistical hub. Yemeni forces have responded to these efforts by launching a series of counter-attacks on coalition positions south and southwest of the city.
