The Russian military has repelled yet another wave of attacks by Kiev forces, according to the October 7 briefing of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
In the Kupyansk direction, the Russian Zapad Group of Forces repelled five counter-attacks of Ukraine’s 4th Tank Brigade and 66th Mechanised Brigade near Makeyevka and Liman Perviy. The group also targeted several gatherings from the 14th, 30th, 32nd mechanized brigades and the 115th Territorial Defence Brigade near Kupyansk, Sinkovka, Liman Perviy and Ivanovka.
The ministry said that Ukrainian losses in this direction amounted to 40 troops, two armored fighting vehicles, two motor vehicles, one Polish-made Krab self-propelled howitzer and one American-made M777 towed howitzer.
And in the Krasny Liman direction, the Russian Tsentr Group of Forces repelled an attack by the 63rd Mechanised Brigade close to Chervonaya Dibrova.
Kiev forces lost 65 troops, two pickup trucks, one Akatsiya self-propelled howitzer, two D-30 and one D-20 towed howitzers during the failed attack, according to the ministry.
In the Donetsk direction, the Russian Yug Group of Forces repelled three Ukrainian attacks near Kurdyumovka, Veseloye and Severnoye.
Up to 190 Ukrainian troops were killed or wounded in this direction, the ministry said, adding that three motor vehicles, one American-made M777 towed howitzer and one D-30 towed howitzer were also destroyed.
In the South Donetsk direction, the Russian Vostok Group of Forces repelled three attacks by Ukraine’s 127th and 128th territorial defense brigades close to Priyutnoye. The group also launched air and artillery strikes against gatherings of manpower and equipment from the 58th Motorised Brigade and 79th Air Assault Brigade close to Urozhaynoye and Novomikhailovka.
According to the ministry, up to 225 Ukrainian troops, two armored fighting vehicles, two motor vehicles, one D-20 towed howitzer and one electronic warfare station were neutralized during the fighting in this direction.
In the Zaporozhye direction, several gatherings of manpower and equipment of Ukraine’s 80th Airborne Assault Brigade, 65th and 118th mechanized brigades were hit by Russian strikes near Uspenovka, Rabotino and Malaya Tokmachka.
The ministry said that the strikes neutralized 50 Ukrainian troops, two armored fighting vehicles and two pickup trucks. Three towed howitzers, one Msta-B, one D-20 and one M-46, were also destroyed by Russian counter-battery fire.
Meanwhile in the Kherson direction, Kiev forces lost 30 troops, two motor vehicles and one D-30 towed as a result of Russian military fire. Two Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups were also eliminated on Aleshinskiy and Pereyaslavsky islands.
The Russian MoD also shared the following details during its briefing:
Operational-Tactical and Army aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles and Missile Troops and Artillery of the Russian Groups of Forces have engaged AFU manpower and hardware in 121 areas during the day.
In addition, one AFU military equipment depot has been obliterated close to Ilichevsk (Odessa region).
The command post of the AFU 95th Airborne Assault Brigade was hit near Pobeda (Donetsk People’s Republic).
Ukrainian Air Force air-delivered ordnance depots were destroyed near Dubievka (Cherkasy region).
One ammunition depot of the AFU 1st Special Operations Brigade was destroyed close to Ogurtsovo (Kharkov region).
AFU aircraft fuel depots were destroyed at Ozernoye airfield near Zhitomyr and Mirgorod airfield in Poltava region.
Russian air defense units intercepted one Su-25 aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force near Preobrazhenka (Zaporozhye region).
Air defense units shot down seven HIMARS MLRS projectiles and four HARM anti-radiation missiles during the day.
Moreover, 38 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles suppressed and neutralized close to Rubezhnoye, Svatovo (Lugansk People’s Republic), Mospino, Novoselovka, Veseloye (Donetsk People’s Republic), Romanovskoye, Vishnevoye and Skelevatoye (Zaporozhye region).
In total, 487 airplanes and 250 helicopters, 7,610 unmanned aerial vehicles, 440 air defense missile systems, 12,387 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,161 combat vehicles equipped with MRLS, 6,679 field artillery cannons and mortars, as well as 13,892 units of special military equipment have been destroyed during the special military operation.
In addition, Russian news sources shared videos showing recent strikes with FPV suicide drones, Lancet loitering munitions and helicopter-launched anti-tank guided missiles. The strikes targeted Ukrainian equipment and positions in different directions.
Kiev forces are now making a last attempt to break through Russian defenses before winter brings their counteroffensive to a halt. Considering recent Ukrainian heavy losses, this attempt will not likely be successful.

i read somewhere recently that soviet ww2 rapid fire antiaircraft guns were being issued to russian platoons in order to shoot down drones. their rapid fire would also be useful to defeat mass ukie infantry attacks.
