On July 4, the US-backed Free Syrian Army (FSA) group Shabab al-Sunnah handed over more heavy weapons to the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in the town of Bosra al-Sham in the eastern Daraa countryside, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
The weapons included an upgraded T-55 battle tank, a BMP-1 infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) and a 37 mm automatic air defense gun M1939. Earlier this week, Shabab al-Sunnah handed over a battle tank, two BMP-1 IFVs and a 160mm mortar cannon.

The return of these weapons is a part of a reconciliation agreement between the Damascus government and Shabab al-Sunnah in Bosra al-Sham and several villages around it. The agreement was reached on July 1 following successful negotiation.
In the upcoming days, Shabab al-Sunnah will hand over more weapons, including US-supplies anti-tanks guided missiles (ATGMs), according to Syrian pro-government activists. Eventually, the former US-backed group, which is led by Ahmad al-Awdah, will become a part of the SAA’s 5th Corps and will participated in anti-ISIS operations.
Given the type of weapons found these were probably pilfered in the early days of the war by men burglarizing unguarded military installations or some SAA deserters brought these with them. In either case they’re of limited use when the spare parts, ammo, and fuel are hard to come by in Syria.

Fuel is hard to come by – what was Russians bombing at the start of compaign? Was it never ending oil convoys? Ammo is hard to come by – well, your masters are making sure that there’s no shortage of replenishing headchoppers ammo depots. Spare parts – there are dozens of disabled tanks and btr’s around. Those that can’t move are used for spare parts.
You’re right about the ammo and spare parts, but fuel probably was tight. The Russians were bombing ISIS oil tankers left and right, but those were transporting unrefined oil and it was all going to Turkey. The only fuel these guys would get was from either Assad territory or Jordan. Considering that there wasn’t much offensive action being taken by these Jihadis on the Daraa front I’d say that either these Jihadis preferred to stay at home reading a good book, or they really weren’t getting much fuel from their Jordan backers.
Sure ton of small to medium arms and plenty of munitions and Tows and Tank ammo and other parts etc. These guys were largely inactive in fighting as this was in the Eastern Daraa.
