Kiev forces have sustained more losses and failed to make any significant gains in any direction, according to the August 23 briefing of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
In the Kupyansk direction, the Russian Zapad Group of Forces carried out offensive actions and improved the tactical situation, according to the ministry. The group also repelled four attacks by Ukraine’s 67th, Mechanised, 68th Jaeger, 25th Airborne and 95th Air Assault brigades close to Sinkovka, Novoyegorovka and Novosyolovskoye.
The ministry said that Ukrainian losses in this direction amounted to 170 troops, one tank, five armored fighting vehicles, three pickup trucks, one American-made M777 towed howitzer and one D-20 towed howitzer.
Meanwhile in the Zaporozhye direction, four attacks by the 65th Mechanised Brigade of Kiev forces were repelled close to Rabotino.
Up to 80 Ukrainian troops were neutralized during the fighting, the ministry said, adding that four motor vehicles, one Polish-made Krab self-propelled howitzer, one German-made Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled howitzer, one D-30 towed howitzer, three American-made M119 towed howitzers and one American-made AN/TPQ-48 counter-battery radar were destroyed.
In the Donetsk direction, the Russian Yug Group of Forces repelled three Ukrainian attacks near Nevelskoye, Mayorsk and Kurdyumovka.
Kiev forces lost 180 troops, three armored fighting vehicles, three motor vehicles, one Gvozdika self-propelled howitzer, one Akatsiya self-propelled howitzer, one D-30 towed howitzer and one D-20 towed howitzers in this direction, according to the ministry.
In the Krasny Liman direction, the Russian Tsentr Group of Forces targeted several positions of Ukraine’s 21st Mechanised Brigade and 5th National Guard Brigade close to Yampolovka and Chervonaya Dibrova. The ministry said that Kiev forces lost 60 troops, two armored fighting vehicles, two pickup trucks and one D-30 towed howitzer.
And in the South Donetsk direction, the Russian Vostok Group of Forces struck Ukrainian gatherings close to Staromayorskoye and Urozhaynoye. In addition, the group neutralized two sabotage and reconnaissance groups near Rovnopol.
Up to 145 Ukrainian troops were killed or wounded in this direction, according to the ministry, who also said that one tank and one American-made M109 self-propelled howitzer were destroyed there.
In the Kherson direction, 20 Ukrainian troops, three motor vehicles and one Gvozdika self-propelled howitzer were destroyed by Russian military fire.
The Russian MoD also provided the following details during its briefing:
Operational-Tactical and Army aviation, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Russian Group of Forces have engaged AFU manpower and hardware in 143 areas during the day. One P-18 radar for detecting and tracking air targets was neutralized near Zaporozhye.
Two command posts of the AFU 67th Mechanised and 81st Airmobile brigades were eliminated close to Serebryanka and Dronovka (Donetsk People’s Republic).
Russian air defense forces have intercepted one HIMARS MLRS projectile during the day.
Moreover, 18 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down close to Shipilovka, Privolye, Makeyevka (Lugansk People’s Republic), Berestovoye, Kurdyumovka (Donetsk People’s Republic), Chistopolye, Lyubimovka, Mirnoye and Inzhenernoye (Zaporozhye region).
In total, 462 airplanes and 246 helicopters, 5,970 unmanned aerial vehicles, 431 air defense missile systems, 11,457 tanks and other armored fighting vehicles, 1,144 combat vehicles equipped with MLRS, 6,011 field artillery cannons and mortars, as well as 12,390 units of special military equipment have been destroyed during the special military operation.
In addition, Russian news sources shared videos showing recent strikes with artillery and Lancet loitering munitions that targeted military equipment of Kiev forces, including three American-made M777 towed howitzers, one American-made M109 self-propelled howitzer, one French-made CAESAR self-propelled howitzer and one American-made AN/TPQ-36 counter-battery radar.
Kiev forces have sustained heavy human and material losses since the start of the counteroffensive more than eleven weeks ago. Despite this, the Kiev regime will not likely halt the counteroffensive anytime soon. In fact, Kiev could escalate attacks to make any achievement before winter.
