Kiev forces have taken additional losses while attempting to hold onto their remaining positions in the Russian region of Kursk.
In its November 30 briefing, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that Ukraine’s 21st, 41st, 44th, 47th mechanised brigades, the 17th Heavy Mechanised Brigade, the 5th Tank Brigade, 80th, 82nd, 95th air assault brigades, the 36th Marine Brigade, 112th, 116th, 117th, and 129th territorial defence brigades took heavy losses after clashes with the Russian military’s Sever (North) Group of Forces.
The clashes took place near the settlements of Aleksandriya, Viktorovka, Kurilovka, Lebedevka, Leonidovka, Martynovka, Nizhny Klin, Nikolayevo-Daryino, Nikolsky, Novoivanovka, Plyokhovo, and Sverdlikovo.
The ministry also announced that Russian air and artillery strikes hit Ukrainian troops and equipment near the settlements of Aleksandriya, Guyevo, Daryino, Kazachya Loknya, Kruglenkoye, Kubatkin, Lebedevka, Martynovka, Nizhny Klin, Nikolayevo-Daryino, Novoivanovka, Plyokhovo, Sverdlikovo, Basovka, Belovody, Vodolagi, Zhuravka, and Loknya in the Ukrainian region of Sumy.
“Over the past 24 hours, the AFU [Armed Forces of Ukraine] losses were more than 250 troops, two tanks, two infantry fighting vehicles, one armoured fighting vehicle, four motor vehicles, and two mortars were neutralized,” the ministry stated in its briefing.
Separately, videos posted to social networks showed some of the strikes that hit Kiev forces in Kursk over the last few days.
Kiev forces launched a surprise attack from Sumy into Kursk last August. The Russian military is currently conducting a counter-attack to clear the region.
According to the Russian MoD, since the start of the battle in Kursk Kiev forces have lost 36,850 troops, 225 tanks, 160 infantry fighting vehicles, 123 armored personnel carriers, 1,202 armored fighting vehicles, 1,060 motor vehicles, 305 artillery guns, 40 launchers, including 11 American-made HIMARS and six MLRS systems, 13 air defense systems, seven transport-loading vehicles, 70 electronic warfare stations, 13 counter-battery radars, four aerial radars, 27 engineering vehicles, including 13 counter obstacle vehicles, one UR-77 mine clearing vehicle, six armored recovery vehicle, and one command post vehicle.
