The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) evacuated more men, women and children from ISIS’ last stronghold in the middle Euphrates River Valley on February 21, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported.
According to the UK-based monitoring group, the number of the remaining ISIS fighters is no more than 260. Most of these terrorists are planning to fight until death.
“The remaining fighters, who are foreigners, are refusing to surrender to the SDF or to the US-led coalition, they prefer to fight until the end,” a local source told the SOHR.
A day earlier, eight trucks evacuated many people from the ISIS-held pocket in the Euphrates Valley, including dozens of men who are suspected of being fighters of the terrorist group. The evacuation process is believed to be a part of a secret deal between the group and the coalition.
The SOHR said that 150 civilians and ISIS members who were evacuated earlier were handed over to the Iraqi military on February 21. The process was reportedly planed by the US-led coalition.
The SDF and the US-led coalition are not apparently willing to attack the remaining terrorists, which mean that the slow evacuation process could last for many more days.
Slow progres is better then none. Some at another site says there is another pockets as well. Its very complicated and hard to know from here.
