More than 20 people were reportedly wounded as a result of a large-scale rocket attack on the Turkish-occupied Syrian town of al-Bab in the northern countryside of Aleppo.

Dozens of rockets landed in different parts of the town’s center between the night of August 5 and the morning of August 6. Heavy material losses were reported. Several houses, shops and vehicles were damaged or completely destroyed.

According to the Western-backed White Helmets civil defense organization, 23 people, including women and children, were wounded as a result of the attack.

The rockets were reportedly launched from a former radar base of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), known as “Radar al-Sha’alah,” in the northern countryside of Aleppo. The base is jointly held by Kurdish forces and the army.

In response to the attack, Turkish-backed militants shelled Kurdish-held areas in the northern Aleppo countryside. No casualties or material losses were reported.

A few hours before the rocket attack, two civilians and a member of the White Helmets were killed when Kurdish fighters destroyed a lift truck and an ambulance near a Turkish base in al-Bab surroundings.

Turkish forces and Kurdish fighters will likely continue to exchange attacks in the northern Aleppo countryside. The situation in the region is slowly spinning out of control.
