More U.S. Service Members Withdraw From Northeast Syria

U.S. special operations forces on patrol in northern Syria. Although no concrete timeline has been publicly announced, the Trump administration has signaled its intention to pull U.S. military forces out of the country.

A total of 50 U.S. service members have withdrawn from a large coalition base in northeast Syria to the Iraqi Kurdistan region.

The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that the U.S. service members were evacuated by helicopters late on October 18.

“50 soldiers of the U.S. occupation withdrew from the Ruhaiypah [Robariye] illegal airport in the countryside of al-Malikiyah by helicopters to Iraq,” the state-run news agency’s reporter said.

Located 9km to the southwest of the city of al-Malikiyah, Robariye is one of the biggest U.S. bases in Syria. The base, which hosts dozens of service members, has a long air strip usually used to supply and transfer U.S. troops in northeast Syria.

U.S. Defense Secretary Mark Esper announced last week that the U.S. military is “preparing to evacuate” about 1,000 troops from northern Syria “as safely and quickly as possible.”

On October 16, U.S. forces abandoned the Kharab Ashk facility in northern Raqqa, one of their biggest military bases in northeast Syria. U.S. warplanes bombed the base after the withdrawal.

“U.S. warplanes bombed the base after the withdrawal.” Those guys have obsessions bordering to sickness. Bomb bomb bomb, it is good.

Spend money to build, and spend more money to destroy. US tax-payers money at work, plus the zio-scum printing machine.

In all fairness it was probably cheaper to blow it up then to dismantle it and ship the goodies back home. If memory serves me right the Dutch army also did this, without the blowing up part as we handed our stuff over to the Americans, when we left our bases in Uruzgan province, Afghanistan.

To be fair it was useless money spent to be there at the 1st place! Illegally squatting the place, should have only tents dressed there and some mobile radar station, instead of blocks of ciments and concrets and hard radars that needs TNT to be dismantled.

I reckon that the US military and the war party in Congress and the Washington establishment were planning to stay for a lot longer. Thankfully Trump was finally able to decide otherwise.

Ceasar Polar

True he wanted that. But why did he tweet lately that “secured the OIL in Syria” Wouldnt that mean that he intends to stay for much longer than what he says ?

So its necessary to have Trump, Pence, Pompeo, Erdogan, Putin, Lavrov, Merkel, Macron, Rouhani, Hillary, BBC, CNN, Fox News, NYT, Pentagon, Nethanyahu involved in withdrawing of 100 US soldiers from N-Syria to N-Iraq??? How will these idiots, who we elected, ever be able to handle any serious issues?
