On August 9, the Russian Ministry of Defense provided details on some of Ukraine’s recent human and material losses in different directions.
In a briefing, the ministry said that the Russian Zapad Group of Forces conducted offensive operations on a wide front in the Kupyansk direction, improving the tactical situation. The group also repelled six attacks and counterattacks by Ukraine’s 14th, 32nd, 41st and 67th mechanized brigades close to Novosyolovskoye and Mankovka.
Moreover, the group targeted gatherings of the 67th Mechanised Brigade and the 103rd Territorial Defence Brigade near Sinkovka and Kislovka.
Ukrainian losses in this direction amounted to 75 troops, two armored fighting vehicles, three motor vehicles, a Polish-made Krab self-propelled howitzer and an American-made AN/TPQ-50 counter-battery radar system, according to the ministry.
Meanwhile in the Donetsk direction, the Russian Yug Group of Forces repelled five Ukrainian attacks near Minkovka, Krasnoye, Avdeevka and to the north of Kleshcheevka.
The ministry said that 370 Ukrainian troops, two tanks, six armored fighting vehicles, four motor vehicles, two American-made M777 towed howitzers, a Polish-made Krab self-propelled howitzer and a D-20 towed howitzer were neutralized in this direction.
In the Zaporozhye direction, three attacks by Ukraine’s 46th Airmobile Brigade were repelled close to Rabotino and Uspenovka. Kiev forces lost 40 troops, three armored fighting vehicles, four motor vehicles, a Gvozdika self-propelled howitzer and a D-30 towed howitzer during the fighting, according to the ministry.

The ministry said that 80 Ukrainian troops, two armored fighting vehicles, three pickup trucks and a D-20 towed howitzer were destroyed there.
In the South Donetsk direction, the Russian Vostok Group of Forces foiled an attempt by Kiev forces to conduct combat reconnaissance near Priyutnoye. The group also suppressed the activities of a Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group close to Urozhaynoye.
Kiev forces lost 180 troops, a tank, three armored fighting vehicles, two pickup trucks, a Polish-made Krab self-propelled howitzer, two Giatsint-B guns and an Akatsiya self-propelled howitzer in this direction, according to the ministry.
In the Kherson direction, Kiev forces lost 50 troops, two motor vehicles, an American-made M777 howitzer, a Giatsint-B gun, a Gvozdika self-propelled howitzer as well as a D-30 towed howitzer as a result of Russian military fire.
The Russian MoD also provided the following details:
Operational-Tactical and Army aviation, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation have neutralized manpower and military hardware in 132 areas.
Air defense units have shot down 9 projectiles launched by HIMARS MLRS.
In addition, 35 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles have been shot down close to Olshana (Kharkov region), Lisichansk, Kremennaya (Lugansk People’s Republic), Rovnopol, Nikolskoye and Orlinskoye (Donetsk People’s Republic), Chumatskoye (Zaporozhye region) and Alyoshki (Kherson region).
In total, 458 airplanes, 245 helicopters, 5,600 unmanned aerial vehicles, 428 air defense missile systems, 11,204 tanks and other armored fighting vehicles, 1,144 fighting vehicles equipped with MLRS, 5,819 field artillery cannons and mortars, as well as 12,155 special military motor vehicles have been destroyed during the special military operation.
In addition, Russian news sources shared videos showing seven recent strikes with Lancet loitering munitions against howitzers and other military equipment of Kiev forces, including P-18 VHF long-range aerial surveillance radar.
Other videos and photos from the front showed a number of destroyed or Damaged Ukrainian vehicles, including French-made VAB and Mowag-Eagle II armored personnel carriers as well as several American-made MaxxPro mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicles.
In another development from the front, law enforcement officials told TASS on August 9 afternoon that the Russian military had intercepted a Ukrainian attack drone near the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (NPP).
“An attack drone of Ukrainian militants was intercepted in the city of Energodar, it was moving towards the Zaporozhye NPP with the purpose of possible detonation of a compartment with nuclear fuel storage, which could result in a large number of civilian casualties,” the source said, without providing any further details.
The Russian MoD has not yet commented on the failed drone attack which was the most recent in a series of attempts by Kiev forces to target the NPP.
Despite sustaining heavy losses and failing to make any meaningful gains, the Kiev regime will not likely halt its counteroffensive any time soon. The regime’s decision to continue the counteroffensive at any cost is meant to appease its backers in the West who had provided more than $200 billions in military aid.
