Moscow Has Questions For Sofia About The Bulgarian Weapons In Syria

Originally appeared at A-specto, translated by Valentina Tzoneva exclusively for SouthFront

“Judging by everything, Bulgaria has benefited from unregulated arms trade”, Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

Serious questions have arisen in Moscow in relation to discovered warehouses stocked with Bulgarian ammunition in eastern Aleppo, used by the opposition and extremist organizations in the fight against the government of Bashar Assad in Syria. According to Maria Zakharova, Moscow is leading fruitless talks with Sofia on an agreement to license rights on different models of weaponry from the 90s of the XXth century. This document is intended to regulate the export of military products to third countries, according to Russian officials, which they are not in a rush to sign.

“Obviously the lack of regulation in this area completely suits certain representatives of Bulgaria”, Zakharova said.

We would like to remind you that on 13 December, there was information, released by the Syrian army, which found ammunition depots and “Grad” missiles, produced in the Military Industrial Works of Sopot, in areas in eastern Aleppo. Supplies of ammunition, according to available evidence, was carried out by the company “Arcus” with headquarters in Lyaskovetz, Bulgaria.

It looks like the reaction of the Russian Foreign Ministry came a few hours after the interview of the outgoing Bulgarian President, Rosen Plevneliev for the German newspaper “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung” in which the politician harshly criticized Russia with a number of charges, including those for targeted Russian propaganda and attempts to destabilize the European Union.

Maria Zakharova is an awesome woman of strength and represents the women of the world. The EU will have to pay for all adventures.

There was no way in hell we were going to hold up hillary clinton as a representative of “women of the world.” Maria Zakharova can represent me any day.

The paperwork discovered in Aleppo is going to be murder for those who played all those games. This will turn many things on their heads, in my opinion.

It may well show that the entire howl that Russia is trying to destabilize the EU was an inversion to hide that the EU was trying to topple Russia in Syria by supplying the opposition and al Nusra with illicit weapons sales. In the longer term we may know exactly what went on. But it will take time. For the time being, Obama is trying his very dirtiest to vilify Russia and impose more sanctions for unproven offenses of interfering in the US elections. Meanwhile, what interfered in the elections was Hillary’s corruption, not Russia. Which to cover up is of course who these entire accusations of Russia are all about. Trump hopefully will make an end to this nonsense.

ironically, Obama is like a pharaoh who tries to topple another pharaohs pyramid to make himself greater in history. But what really comes from it is the impression that the Obama regime is just desperately at the end of the rope and slowly suffocating itself with its own vileness.

Hi Regula. A whole lot of people who thought they were above it all, have now been caught in their own web. It is going to be interesting to watch. A good day to you.

Certain people in Bulgaria will sell and resell anything to anybody.Organised Crime has a big part to play here. Most hardware is probably from stockpiles that were stolen from the government. As long as billions in Saudi money is available , there will be crooked takers. I guess most of that money has never found it’s way to state coffers.
