The Armed Forces of Ukraine supported by the NATO military continue attempts to attack the Crimean Republic. On October 8, the peninsula came under the second Ukrainian attack in two days.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that on the night of October 8th, Russian air defense forces intercepted and destroyed 16 Ukrainian drones. 14 of them were destroyed in the border Belgorod region. Two more were destroyed over the waters of the Black Sea. The night attack resulted in no damage.

In the afternoon, the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched another attack on the city of Sevastopol located on the western coast of the peninsula. Sirens sounded in the city at about 4 p.m. local time. It did not last long. Russian air defense was active on the outskirts of Sevastopol.

According to preliminary reports, Russian air defense forces repelled the attack. At least one target was destroyed over the sea near the city. The local authorities reported that there was no damage to civilian infrastructure recorded in the city. The Russian military is yet to clarify wether Ukrainian drones or missiles were destroyed and what was their exact number.

Meanwhile, a NATO Bombardier Challenger 650 has been operating for several hours over Romania, approaching the Black Sea coast. Bombardier Challenger is one of NATO aircraft that are always on duty during Ukrainian attack on Crimea, providing reconnaissance support and observing the results of the attack, trying to reveal the positions of Russian air defense systems.

On the night of October 7, the Armed Forces of Ukraine  targeted Crimea with drones and missiles. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that 12 Ukrainian UAVs were destroyed. According to Russian military reporters, after the drone strikes, Ukrainian forces launched ATACMS missiles from their positions in the Kherson region. Two missiles struck the largest fuel depot in Crimea located in Feodosiya on the southeastern coast of the peninsula. As a result, two fuel barrels caught fire. The fire has not yet been extinguished.

The attacks on Crimea resumed after a pause of almost three weeks. NATO and Kiev are likely to attempt new larger strikes on the peninsula in the nearest future.
