NATO approves military build up near Russian border

On Wednesday,  NATO defense chiefs agreed during a summit in Brussels that it will strengthen its military presence in Eastern Europe.

According to NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg, it will deploy a multinational force stationed in Eastern European member states of NATO by rotation.

Prior to the summit, the NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg said that the military buildup in Eastern Europe was directed at any would-be aggressor.

Russia put its military on combat alert across its southwest region amid massive military exercises on last Monday.

Russian President Vladimir Putin also signed a document in January declaring NATO a threat to Russia’s national security since NATO had been increasing its presence in Eastern Europe and the Baltics.
