On April 30, locals in the towns of Salhiyat Harb and Misherfah in the northern countryside of al-Hasakah intercepted another convoy of U.S. forces.
Ahmad al-Halil, mayor of Tell Sateeh Gharbi, told Snack Syrian that U.S. forces stuck at the entrance of the two towns for 30 minutes. U.S. officers asked the locals to allow them to pass through. However, their request was rejected.
“The U.S. convoy consisted of four armored vehicles and a civilian car escorting them, it was intercepted on the Junction of Salhiyat Harb and Misherfah, which are located in the sector of Howran and the municipality of Tell Sateeh Gharbi,” the mayor added.
The convoy, that was escorted by a warplane of the U.S.-led coalition, came from the town of Tell Brak in al-Hsakah’s northeastern countryside.
Several sources confirmed that personnel of the pro-government National Defense Forces (NDF) helped the locals of Salhiyat Harb and Misherfah to intercept the U.S. convoy.
In the last few months, the locals and government forces succeeded in restricting the movement of U.S. forces in the northern al-Hasakah countryside, mainly around the border city of al-Qamishli.
The Damascus government and its allies, especially Russia, are now working to build strong relations with Arab tribes in northeast Syria. The step is apparently worrying the U.S, which is attempting to reinforce its influence in the oil-rich region.
