Two people were killed and at least six others were injured on December 4, when a booby-trapped car exploded in the northeastern Syrian town of Ras al-Ayn, which is occupied by the Turkish military and its proxies

Enab Baladi, a pro-opposition outlet, reported that the deadly explosion took place in the town’s Corniche street that’s usually busy.

Milad al-Mahmoud, a military commander in the Turkish-backed Hamza Division, told Enab Baladi that the explosion was meant to “disturb security” in Ras al-Ayn.

“The explosion took place before a pre-planned meeting of military commanders in a building in the region [Corniche street],” Enab Baladi quoted al-Mahmoud as saying.

The Turkish military and the so-called Syrian National Army (SNA) captured Ras al-Ayn, located in northern al-Hasakah, from Kurdish forces last October following a fierce battle.

Last month, more than 60 civilians and Turkish-backed militants were killed or injured in a large explosion that rocked the town of Tell Halaf near Ras al-Ayn. The Turkish military and its proxies blame Kurdish forces for these explosions, without providing any evidence.
