In an new escalation, Turkish forces shelled civilian areas in the northern countryside of Raqqa and al-Hasakah on July 1 morning.
According to the Hawar News Agency and the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the shelling targeted the towns of al-Nuyhat near Tell Tamr in northern al-Hasakah and Hushanah near Ain Issa in northern Raqqa.
The shelling caused no human losses. However, it resulted in a series of fires in farmlands located around the targeted areas.
Turkish forces in northeast Syria are not only escalating their attacks on the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) areas, but also working to expand their military presence in the region. According to the SANA, a training camp for Turkish-backed militants was recently established northwest of Tell Tamr.
Both the Syrian Arab Army and the Russian Military Police maintain strong presence between Tell Tamr and Ain Issa to enforce the agreements reached with the SDF and Turkey last year.
The recent provocations by Turkish forces in northeast Syria are a direct reflection of the ever growing tension between Ankara and the SDF. This tension could soon lead to a new military confrontation in the region.
Time to liberate these lands Turkish Army. Go go boys, burn the terrorists.
The goatfuckers are the terrorist ffs.
