Iranian-made strike and reconnaissance UAVs continue to prove their effectiveness on the battlefields while Tehran is developing new advanced models. A new kamikaze drone “Meraj-521” was developed by the Iranian IRGC specialists for the rapid reaction forces Saberin of the IRGC Ground Forces. It was shown in action during the exercises of the Corps Ground Forces in late October.
The small-sized drone is aimed to destroy enemy personnel and unarmored vehicles. It is launched by a pneumatic catapult. The UAV has a range of up to 5 km and can stay in the air for 15 minutes. It has a warhead weighing 500, 700 or 1000 g.

Anything under 2Kg warhead is of minimal use on a battlefield, it’s a minor irritation not a serious threat. Unless you plan to catch it in your groin

The US Switchblade, its warhead has an explosive charge equivalent to a 40mm grenade to destroy light armored vehicles and personnel. The whole Switchblade weighs 2.7 kg including the carrying case and launcher.
Well on two occassions Russian supply trucks were hit with switch blades and they only lost their windows and the drivers picked up minor injuries. I’m not saying they would blow your head off if close enough I’m saying on a major battle field they are an irritation not a serious threat
I don’t disagree with you, but those drone types aren’t deadly or a breakthrough because their main purpose is as light suicide drones and reconnaissance.
I have also seen Russian troops finding American Switchblades on the ground, but most likely the Ukraine side was using them as reconnaissance drones. Those are small and fast which makes them harder to hit, one of them costs $6,000.
But it seems useless in the Ukriane-Russia war because the Russian side has good electronic warfare capabilities.

Considering costs effort manpower involved for the damage they inflict I am not inspired by them. They’re okay against unprotected civilians but rather ineffective against prepared troop
the ones with 10 up to 40kg warhead are in service, for heavy armored targets or bunkers, but its not bad to build also smaller ones, but in much higher quantities. 1kg high explosive payload is enough to kill or wound infantry in a 20-30m radius or to heavily damage unarmored vehicles, but than the warhead must be covered with shrapnel/dimes. also there are now activated plans to build even much smaller ones too, with only 20-50g payloads, with thermal seekers for direct and self aiming tracking and attacking of single soldiers or platoons in swarms.

If Russia had developed hundreds of Harop/Harpy anti-radar kamikaze drone equivalents, they would have destroyed all Ukrainian air defenses within the first 2 months. You’d think they would have learned from Karabakh War in 2020 and Israeli airstrikes in Syria! But apparently not.
What was tested and shown is still in development and not entered mass production yet (evident clearly by 3-D printed body because there will be much change to the internal components but the wings are made out of carbon fiber).
The drone can also be deployed from helicopters and moving ground vehicles, so it’s mass production and implementation will also require an update and some changes on the attack rotary wing fleet of the Army and IRGC. A unit of the elite Sabreen commandos of IRGC is armed with these drones to access and evaluate them.
Once again, we have to thank the Americans for giving the idea and some samples. We found that their product has lots of weak points and deficiencies and will try to make something more reliable. :))
