New Massacre In Yemen: Saudi-led Coalition Airstrike On Taiz Leaves 18 Civilians Dead (Photos)

Late on December 3, 18 civilians were killed and at least eight others were wounded in the southwestern Yemeni province of Taiz as a result of an airstrike carried out by the Saudi-led coalition.

According to the al-Masirah TV, the civilians were gathered in their town, al-Hakimah, in the district of Moqbanah when they were targeted by a warplane of the coalition.

The channel’s reporter in Tazi said that coalition warplanes flew over al-Hakimah for a while after the deadly airstrike, preventing first responders from recovering all the bodies from the scene of the attack.

“This brutal crime is added to a series of crimes committed by the US-Saudi coalition of aggression against civilians who are guaranteed the right of protection according to the international humanitarian law,” Governor of Taiz, Maj. Gen. Salah Abdul Rahman Bajash, said in a statement. “We hold the United Nations and the Security Council legally and morally responsible for these crimes.”

The Houthis (Ansar Allah) Media Center shared photos showing the dead bodies of some of the victims, including two children.

The Saudi-led coalition, who recently stepped up its airstrikes on Yemen, has not yet commented on the massacre in Taiz, as of yet.

In a recent statement shared by the Saudi Press Agency, the coalition said that its warplanes had targeted a ballistic missile launcher along with a group of experts as well as mine and drone workshops in the Houthi-held Yemeni capital, Sanaa.

The massacre in Taiz will likely lead to more escalation in Yemen. The Houthis may respond by attempting to attack targets in Saudi Arabia very soon.
