On January 3, pro-government sources released photos revealing the losses al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and its allies sustained during their recent failed attack in southeast Idlib.
The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) had repelled the large-scale attack, which targeted the recently-liberated town of al-Tah. The photos show the dead bodies of at least six militants, which were left behind by their comrades. According to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), at total of ten militants were killed in the attack.
Two up-armored pick-up trucks, which were used in the attack, can been seen in another photo after being destroyed by the SAA.
Last week, HTS and its allies lost 20 militants and several vehicles in a large-scale attack on al-Tah and the nearby town of Jarjanaz.
By launching such attacks, the terrorist groups likely seek to deter the SAA, that’s now preparing to resume its ground operations in southeast Idlib.
