On January 24, the Abkhazian Network News Agency (ANNA) released photos revealing some of the losses al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and its allies sustained in the recent clashes with the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in southeast Idlib.
The photos shows several pick-up vehicles, some of them appeared to be up-armored, which were destroyed by army forces.
Besides material losses, HTS and its allies lost 31 militants, including 26 Jihadists, according to a report released by the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) on January 25.
The SAA resumed its large-scale ground operation in southeast Idlib late on January 24, capturing several towns, villages and hilltops in the region. Army troops are now only 3 km away from the city of Ma`arat al-Nu`man. The large urban center is the main target of the operation.
HTS and its allies will likely suffer from much more losses in the upcoming few hours. Syrian and Russian warplanes are stepping up their attacks on the terrorist groups’ positions in southeast Idlib.
