On October 21, several journalists and activists shared images showing the aftermath of the October 20 attack on the US al-Tanf garrison in southeastern Syria.
The images show heavy damage at the garrison, which hosts some 200 US troops as well as dozens of Syrian fighters from the Revolutionary Commando Army proxy group. No casualties were reported as a result of the attack.

Military source familiar with Al Tanf just confirmed to me that these pictures are from the base.

According to the US Central Command, the base was targeted with suicide drones and rockets. The attack was reportedly launched simultaneously from Syria and Iraq.
The US established Al-Tanf garrison in 2016 in order to block a strategic highway that links the Syrian capital, Damascus, with Baghdad, the capital of Iraq.
The US has not made any accusations, yet. However, it maintained its “right to respond” at the time and place of its choosing. Iranian-backed forces in Syria and Iraq were unofficially blamed for the complex attack.
Last week, the Allies of Syria Operations Room, which commands Iranian-backed forces in Syria, vowed to response “very harshly” to the October 13 Israeli airstrikes that targeted the outskirts of the ancient Syrian city of Palmyra. The airstrikes were launched from the airspace of al-Tanf.
If the attack on al-Tanf was indeed a response to the recent airstrikes on Palmyra, Iranian forces may soon attempt to launch a similar attack on Israel.
