New US Troops Deploying To Counter Iran To Be Accompanied With Patriot Missiles, Aircraft And Other ‘Deterrence Capabilities’

The new US deployment of 1,000 troops to the Middle East aimed at countering Iran’s activities is to allegedly include a Patriot missile battalion, manned and unmanned surveillance aircraft and “other deterrence capabilities,” according to an unnamed Pentagon spokeswoman.

MSM further cited the unnamed spokeswoman as having said the following:

“”The United States does not seek conflict with Iran, but we are postured and ready to defend U.S. forces and interests in the region.”

The notable thing regarding the quote is that it is word-for-word taken from a US Department of Defense statement from May 10th, 2019. Back then the statement announced the approval by Acting US Secretary of Defense Patrick Shanahan of the USS Arlington, which is a San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock, and a Patriot missile defense battery to US Central Command in the Middle East, to assist the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group.

This was also hinted on Twitter on June 17th by Shanahan:

The troops were being sent “for defensive purposes to address air, naval, & ground-based threats in the Middle East.”

Separately, both Russia and China warned the US over sending the additional troops to the region.

“We call on all parties to remain rational and restrained, not to take any actions to provoke the escalation of tension in the region, and not to open a Pandora’s box,” Foreign Minister Wang Yi told reporters in Beijing.

“In particular, the US side should alter its extreme pressure methods. Any unilateral behaviour has no basis in international law,” Wang said, warning that it could create “an even greater crisis”.

Wang also urged Iran to “make prudent decisions” and not “so easily abandon” the 2015 deal.

Iran has threatened to go even further in scaling down nuclear commitments by July 8 unless remaining partners to the deal – Britain, China, France, Germany and Russia – help it circumvent US sanctions and especially enable it to sell its oil.

“China’s determination to safeguard the comprehensive agreement has not changed,” Wang said.

“We are willing to work with all parties to continue to make efforts for the full and effective implementation of the agreement.”

On Russia’s side, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said that Washington should give up on its plan to send more troops to the Middle East and not risk war with Iran.

“Now what we see are unending and sustained US attempts to crank up political, psychological, economic and, yes, military pressure on Iran in quite a provocative way. They [the actions] cannot be assessed as anything but a conscious course to provoke war,” Ryabkov said.

President Hassan Rouhani, meanwhile, said “Iran will not wage war against any nation,” in a speech broadcast live on state TV.

The world “praises” Iran over its faceoff with the US, he said, adding: “Despite all of the Americans’ efforts in the region and their desire to cut off our ties with all of the world and their desire to keep Iran secluded, they have been unsuccessful.”

In the past five years America was dreaming that they would take Afghanistan, Iraq, Egypt, Yemen and Libya and for this these perverted regime butchered millions of innocent citizens there.

Now America dreaming that with in next five years they would take Iran, Pakistan, Turkey, Jordan and Lebanon. Very nice. Let see how they would take.

They come bodybags in back pocket.

verner

but they miss the bodybag stuffing, i.e. the under-educated rednecks/hillbillies from the fly over states whose only future is either as bodybag stugffing or meth cooking and 10 to 15 in a penitentiary to be raped and maltreated to the full extent of the non existent law.

This is a big question mark for all international leaderships and UNO that what US, NATO and Israel doing in Yemen, Palestine, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya etc. Do they respect these countries sovereignty or these leaderships and UNO are US puppets?

d'Artagnan

More of a cosmetic stunt to calm the fraying nerves of Jews and Saudis than having any real impact. The patriots have close to zero interception success rate as the post 1991 GOA report confirmed when they failed to even down 1960’s vintage Saddam’s Scud B. The newer GPS guided NOE Iranian cruise and precision missiles would easily through a very target rich environment in the Persian Gulf. Just one missile hit at Dubai airport would spell the end of UAE.

Sending more drones and UAVs to assail Iran!

Haven’t the US lost enough gear already?

d'Artagnan

American RQ-4 Global Hawks are stationed at the Al-Dhafra Air Base in the United Arab Emirates, near the capital of Abu Dhabi. Journalists saw the drones on the base’s tarmac last week as part of the US military build-up. In purely technical terms, the UAE is party to aggression and Iran is within its rights to retaliate against UAE, which is hosting US aggression against Iran.

d'Artagnan

Not a very good look for US “technology” or military. Their defence seretary beats up his wife and their most sophisticated drone being used for target practice by Iran. US should have a good look at its rogue behavior.

“”The United States does not seek conflict with Iran, but we are postured and ready to defend U.S. forces and interests in the region.”

She might even believe what she says, but the truth is that US elites have been doing everything in their power to provoke a conflict with Iran.
