News Of 'De-Escalation': Syrian Army Prevents Another Militant Attack In Northern Hama

On November 11, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) foiled a new infiltration attempt by radical militants in the northern Hama countryside, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

In details, militants of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and the Turkistan Islamic Party (TIP) advanced from their positions in the towns of Murak, al-Lataminah, Maarkaba and Tell al-Sakhr to launch attacks on the nearby SAA positions. However, the army’s reconnaissance units detected the militants and heavy clashes broke out.

“Army units faced the infiltration attempts with suitable weapons and foiled them after killing and injuring many terrorists, the rest were forced to run away and their weapons and equipment were destroyed,” the SANA’s reporter in Hama said.

This was the second violation of the Russian-Turkish deconfliction agreement, which covers northern Hama, during the last 48 hours. A day earlier, HTS fighters attempted to attack an “operations room” of the SAA and Russian forces in the region. However, it failed.

Syrian sources had repeatedly warned that these repeated violations may lead to the collapse of the deconfliction agreement. In this case, the SAA and its allies could launch a large-scale military operation in northwestern Syria.
