On Friday, North Korea conducted another missile launch in response to the increased pressure that the country faced from the US and its allies as well as the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
North Korea launched a ballistic missile over the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido. This was the second missile launch over Japan in less than a month.
The missile followed a new round of the UNSC sanctions imposed on the country over its sixth nuclear test.
According to reports, North Korea launched a Hwasong-12 intermediate-range ballistic missile (IRBM) that flew about 3,700 km with the maximum altitude of about 770 km. The IRBM’s flight time was about 17 mins.
A day before, a spokesperson for the Korea Asia-Pacific Peace Committee, which oversees North Korea’s foreign affairs and propaganda, called to “reduce the US mainland into ashes and darkness” adding that the US should “be beaten to death as a stick is fit for a rabid dog.”
He added that the “four islands of the [Japanese] archipelago should be sunken into the sea by the nuclear bomb of Juche. Japan is no longer needed to exist near us. This is the voices of the enraged Korean army and people.”
TIP: Juche is an official ideology of North Korea.
It’s also interesting to note that the missile flew a distance equivalent to that from North Korea to Guam, the US territory that was threatened by North Korea earlier.

South Korea responded with carrying out a “live fire drill” that included a missile launch which was capable of striking the Sunan airport missile launch site near the North Korea capital Pyongyang, according to the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Spokesman for South Korean President, Park Soo-hyun, said that South Korea’s military had been ordered “to prepare a stern measure that can effectively counter North Korea’s increasing nuclear and military threats.”
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg called for a “global response” to the missile launch and called it “a reckless breach of UN resolutions.”

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson already blamed Russia and China for the US inability to handle its strategy towards North Korea.
“United Nations security council resolutions, including the most recent unanimous sanctions resolution, represent the floor, not the ceiling, of the actions we should take. We call on all nations to take new measures against the Kim regime. China supplies North Korea with most of its oil. Russia is the largest employer of North Korean forced labor. China and Russia must indicate their intolerance for these reckless missile launches by taking direct actions of their own,” Tillerson said in a statement.

Russia and China united against the dollar’s empire

We are wrong to think that the armed conflicts occurring across the world are disconnected one from the other. The reality is that nearly all of them fall within a broader relationship between “the West’s American Empire” on the one hand and, the Brics, an organization of states seeking to establish a countervailing “alternative international order”, on the other. This power struggle is played out using two power bases that are closely connected: the military and finance.
There is now a vast arc of tensions and conflicts that extends from Eastern Asia to Central Asia, from the Middle East to Europe, from Africa to Latin America. The “hot points” along this intercontinental arc– the Korean Peninsula, the South China Sea, Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Ukraine, Libya, Venezuela and others – have different histories and geopolitical features, but there is a thread that stitches them together: the strategy being deployed by “the American Western empire”, now in decline, to stamp out new states and social subjects before they can rise. The Brics Summit (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) that took place from 3-5 September 2017, at Xiamen, China, has grasped what Washington’s fear is.
The Russian President, Putin, expressing “the BRIC countries’ concerns over the unfairness of the global financial and economic architecture which does not give due regard to the growing weight of the emerging economies”, stressed the need to “overcome the excessive domination of a limited number of reserve currencies”. This was clearly a reference to the US dollar, which constitutes almost two thirds of the global reserve currencies and the currency which determines the price of petrol, gold and other strategic raw materials.
This permits the U.S. to maintain its dominant position by printing dollars the value of which is not based on the US’s real economic capacity but on its use as a global currency. However, three significant events may eclipse the US’s dominance:
1. a year ago, the Chinese yuan entered into the basket of the IMF’s exchange currencies, (joining the dollar, the euro, the yen and the sterling).
2. Peking is on the verge of launching contracts in yuan to purchase oil, convertible to gold.
3. the Brics are asking for the quotas, and thus the votes attributed to each country within the IMF, to be revised. This is because the US alone, has more than twice the total number of votes of the 24 countries of Latin America (including Mexico) and the G7 holds triple the votes of the Bric countries.
Washington is eyeing the Russian – Chinese partnership with growing concern for the following reasons: • the exchange between the two countries is growing rapidly and should reach 80 billion dollars in 2017; • there has been a surge in the number of co-operation agreements between China and Russia in the following sectors: energy, agriculture, aeronautics, space and infrastructure; • it was announced that a Chinese company would purchase 14% of Rosneft (the Russian state oil company) and Russia would supply gas (38 billion m3 yearly) to China through the new gas pipe line, Sila Sibiri, which will become operational in 2019. This will open to the Russian energy export, the path to the East, getting around the U.S.A.’s attempt to block its entrée to the West though Europe.
Since the U.S.A. is losing ground in economic terms, it is throwing on the balance the full weight of its ace: its military might and political influence. The U.S.’s military pressure in the South China Sea and in the Korean peninsular, the U.S./Nato wars in Afghanistan, the Middle East and Africa, the U.S.A./Nato “push” in Ukraine and the ensuing confrontation with Russia all form part of one strategy: global confrontation with the Russia/Chinese partnership. A clash of not only of economic wills but also geopolitical. It also forms part of the plan to implode the Brics, making the pendulum of political power swing wildly to the Right in Brazil and the whole of Latin America. Kurt Tidd, is the Commander of the U.S. Southern Command. He is preparing the military option that Trump threatened to apply against Venezuela: in a Senate Hearing, he accuses Russia and China of exerting an “evil influence” in Latin America, so that they can carry forward into this region “their vision of an alternative international order”.

Thing is though, Japan straddles almost the entire reach of North Korea’s access to the Pacific. If it wants to fire a missile into the Pacific that will reach more then a few hundred kilometers it either has to fire over Russian territory, Sakhalin an the Kurilles, or Japan. It’s elementary geography. Unless Japan and the US want to give NK some island in the central Pacific.

Japanese territory stretches all the way down south to Taiwan. Japan really blocks off all access to the Pacific to NK. And while they could overshoot Chinese or Russian territory, they’d be utterly insane, as these are the only last friends that NK has. The Japanese are already pissed off and in the US camp. Much higer than that if maximum altitude was 770 km. In any case, it was well above Japanese airspace. For reference, International Space Station is at around 400 km.
War is coming to that peninsula. Lots of death. Kim is crazier than U.S. Up to China to deescalate, but considering how everyone enjoys being a pain in someone’s ass, most likely will observe.
There will come a point of no return and U.S. will act. Kim will lose.

Nothing like the NATO shill Stoltensberg who thinks NK is bad what must he think of the US then who is walking away from all Nuclear treaties , besides the fact they never adhered to it in the first place is besides the point. They need to quiet the rhetoric down since all the current actions have done is make matters worse, as this shows everyone the US has never wanted a peace treaty to ever be signed in the region. Their actions seem to escalate at the words of a peace process between the two halves of one country. US started an illegal war crime in the first place and continues it warlike aggression with no conciliatory tone, but that of war and devastation, just like old times.

North Korea in the Great Nuclear Game

For Manlio Dinucci, the North Korean Crisis is preventing us from seeing the wood from the trees. To appreciate the true extent of the crisis, we must not be blinkered and focus only on the fact that Pyongyang has the atomic bomb. We must open our eyes to three other facts: 1/ the Great Powers have unbelievable stocks of nuclear weapons; 2/another 35 states are on the point of acquiring them; and 3/confronted by the US strategy, states that possess nuclear weapons are better able to fend for themselves than the parasitic states that do not, where widows and orphans will be bred.
The political-media spotlights are directed at North Korea’s nuclear missile tests. Yet the general context in which these test are taking place is completely obscured. What is this context? An arms race that is gathering pace, that while it maintains a nuclear arsenal capable of wiping out the human race from the face of the Earth, points its heads and high tech carriers that are becoming increasingly sophisticated.
In 2017, the Federation of American Scientists (FAS) considers that North Korea has “fissile material with the potential to produce 10-20 nuclear heads, but there is no evidence available that it has made operational nuclear heads that can be transported by ballistic missiles”. Still going by what the FAS reports, the U.S. has 6,800 nuclear heads of which 1,650 are strategic and 150 are non-strategic, poised for immediate launch. Including the French and British heads (300 and 215 respectively), Nato nuclear forces have 7,315 nuclear heads, of which 2,200 are ready for launch, compared with 7,000 Russian nuclear heads of which 1,950 are ready for launch. Still, going by what the FAS thinks, around 550 US, French and British heads ready for launch, are stationed in Europe in the closest proximity to Russian territory. The analogy would be if Russia had lined up in Mexico a hundred nuclear heads pointed at the U.S. Taking account of the Chinese bombs (270), Pakistani bombs (120-130), Indian bombs (110-120) and Israeli bombs (80), the total number of nuclear heads is estimated at about 15,000. Of course these are approximate figures, almost certainly default. And the race to nuclear weapons continues while the nuclear heads and nuclear carriers are constantly being updated.
Leading the pack is the United States which is constantly running tests on Minuteman III, its intercontinental ballistic missiles and is prepared to replace them with new missiles (the cost of which is estimated at 85 billion dollars). In 2015, Congress approved a plan (the cost of which is estimated at around 1,000 billion) to fortify its nuclear forces with another 12 submarines for attack (each 7 billion), each armed with 200 nuclear heads, and other strategic bombers (550 million each), each armed with 20 nuclear heads. This is the backdrop for replacing the US nuclear bombs B61, stationed in Italy and other European countries, with the new B61-12, weapons for a first strike. The nuclear forces have also been strengthened by the “anti-missile shield” to neutralize enemy reprisal, such as those lined up by the US in Europe against Russia and in South Korea, not against North Korea but in actual fact, against China.
Russia and China are speeding up the modernization of their nuclear forces so that they do not fall behind. 2018 will see Russia lining up a new intercontinental ballistic missile, the Sarmat, with an 18,000 km range, capable of transporting 10-15 nuclear heads that, entering the atmosphere at a hypersonic speed (more than 10 times the speed of sound), manoeuvre so as to dodge the interceptive missiles piercing the “shield”.
In such a situation, where a closed circle of states maintains an oligopoly over nuclear weapons, where the state that possesses them threatens the state that does not have them, it is increasingly probable that other states will seek to obtain them for themselves … mission accomplished. In addition to the nine states that already have nuclear weapons, there are around another 35 states with the capability to build them.
And yet the newspapers and the news pay no heed to this; they set off the alarm on North Korea, condemned as the exclusive source for the nuclear threat. Also left out of consideration is the lesson that in Pyongyang they say they have learnt: Gaddafi – they recall – had totally renounced every kind of nuclear programme, allowing CIA inspection on Libyan territory. However, this did not save him when the USA and Nato decided to destroy the Libyan State. And so they reason in Pyongyang that if this state had had nuclear weapons, no one would have had the courage to attack it. Such a conclusion can also be extracted from other examples: in the present global climate, it is better to have nuclear weapons than not to have them.
Meanwhile on the basis of this dangerous logic, the probability of nuclear proliferation increases. The Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, adopted by the vast majority of the United Nations last July, is ignored by all nuclear powers, by Nato members (Italy included) and by their principal partners (Ukraine, Japan and Australia). Fundamentally, there is a large mobilization for insisting that our country is also a party to the Treaty on the Prohibition on Nuclear Weapons and therefore must remove from its territory the U.S. bombs lined up there. The presence of these bombs also violates the Non-Proliferation Treaty which Italy has already ratified. If you lack a political conscience, then at the very least, your basic survival instinct should be triggered.
