North Korea announced on Monday it had successfully test-fired a medium- to long-range ballistic missile on Sunday.
The missile known as “Pukguksong-2” flew 500 km before crashing in the Sea of Japan. The Pukguksong-2 is capable of carrying a nuclear warhead.
Intermediate-range ballistic missiles typically have a range of 3,000 to 5,500 kilometers. US and South Korean sources estimate that Pukguksong-2’s range is up to 2,000 km.
For example, this is enough to target US military sites in Japan.
