The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) command in the border town of Ras al-Ayn warned on October 18 that it will use the right of self-defense if Turkish forces continue to violate the 120-hour long ceasefire.
Sources in Ras al-Ayn command told the Hawar News Agency (ANHA) that the Turkish military is still shelling the town.
“If attacks continue, they will use their right to legitimate defense and response aggressively to the occupation’s attacks,” ANHA’s report reads.
The ceasefire in northeast Syria, which was announced by U.S. Vice President Mike Pence a day earlier, is supposed to last for 120 hours, allowing Kurdish fighters to withdraw from the designated 32 km deep “safe-zone” along the border with Turkey.
Despite the ceasefire, the Turkish-led attack on Ras al-Ayn is reportedly still ongoing. A few hours earlier, a total of 28 civilians were killed or injured in a series of Turkish airstrikes that targeted the town’s outskirt.
With Turkey developing its attack on Ras al-Ayn and Kurdish forces stalling the withdrawal process from the “safe-zone,” the U.S-sponsored ceasefire appears to be collapsing.
so the unhinged states of A agrees a ceasefire with Turkey and trust the kurds and the syrians will sit back and wait for 5 days – not likely on any account. the yanks will soon b on their way unless they already are and leave the syrians and the turks to manage the northeast and the turks will allow the syrians to do the managing and the kurds, as always, placing last outside of the money.
The ceasefire attempt was mostly for domestic consumption. If erdogan stopped now thered by saa and russian everywhere. Even now it’s a failure they just reached the m4 in the middle and lost manjib and Kobani and kurdish majority areas already with saa reinforcements.
No hell probably get that town theyre fighting in now and declare victory unless he can get a russian or Syrian attack and ask for nato article 5 which would probably get no answer and collapse nato.
Odds are its close enough. The ceasefire was for them to run away from the border. If they dont I dont think the ceasefire applies to them. It still functions as an excuse to not put economic sanctions on turkey anyways.
Lastly the us and turkey dont speak for Russia and syria anyways so it was always kind of a weird idea but it helps Trump.

And how can the SDF retreat from a town that’s surrounded on all sides, the US isn’t air lifting them out and I don’t think the SAAF will either, so what can they do, either fight to the death or surrender, or maybe the cavalry will arrive and forcefully drive a hole through the Turkish encirclement allowing the SDF to escape. But who would be the cavalry, the SDF themselves, the US, Russia, Syria or the UN, the SDF launching a two pronged attack could do it, or a couple of airstrikes on the besieging forces would probably open up a path out too, but maybe diplomatic negotiations could also do the job even better, it’ll be interesting to see what actually happens here when the pause in fighting is over, well that’s if you can call it a pause in fighting, because it hasn’t really stopped in Ras al Ayn at all from what I’ve seen on the news.
